Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

éShop Creative Studios is seeking a visionary Art Director to join our Tokyo studio, where you will establish and scale creative direction across multiple content production workflows including photography, video, and generative AI. In this role, you will own the visual identity and quality standards for high-volume content programs, translating business requirements and brand guidelines into scalable visual frameworks that maintain creative excellence at production speed. You will build mechanisms for creative quality assurance, identify systemic gaps using data and stakeholder feedback, and define standards for emerging AI-generated content. The role requires a strong creative leader who can mentor talent, influence cross-functional teams, and present confidently to senior leadership while balancing creative integrity with operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in visual design, understands how to scale creative standards across large teams, and is comfortable making trade-off decisions between quality, efficiency, and scalability. You will play a critical role in shaping how Japan's marketplace content looks and feels to millions of customers. If you believe great design can be both beautiful and systematic, this is your role.

At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.

  • Define creative standards and evaluation criteria for AI-generated content, ensuring consistency with brand and aesthetic guidelines
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams on creative tools, automation opportunities, and workflow optimization initiatives
  • Lead creative pilots from problem definition through proof-of-concept to full-scale implementation across the studio
  • Make trade-off decisions between creative quality, production efficiency, and scalability at the program level
  • Mentor and develop creative talent through structured feedback, training sessions, and calibration exercises
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders including Producers, Ops, Engineering, and Marketing to align on creative standards
  • Present creative strategies, quality frameworks, and pilot results to senior leadership with clear rationale
  • Adapt global creative standards to Japan market aesthetics, cultural nuances, and consumer expectations About the team eShop Studio Japan is part of a global creative network with five hub studios in Barcelona, New York, London, New Delhi, and Tokyo-producing photography, videography, and emerging-format content at scale for millions of Amazon customers.
