You will own the Environmental Construction Program for the EMEA region - developing strategy, building scalable processes, and driving operational excellence across a rapidly growing portfolio of projects. While the primary focus is programmatic - designing frameworks, setting standards, and driving adoption at scale - the role also involves periodic visits to construction sites to observe program implementation first-hand and validate that standards are being applied effectively on the ground. You will partner with construction teams, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders to embed environmental best practices at every stage of the construction lifecycle.\nKey job responsibilities\nProgram Development & Implementation\n- Define and implement the EMEA Construction Environmental Program, including standards, workflows, service-level agreements (SLAs), and operational excellence mechanisms \n- Develop and maintain the Construction Environmental Risk assessment framework for the region, ensuring high-risk aspects are identified early in the project lifecycle (pre-design through Facilities Handover) \n- Create and own the regional environmental inspection and audit protocols, ensuring consistent execution across all EMEA markets \n- Establish program requirements for Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and oversee their quality across the portfolio\nCompliance & Stakeholder Management\n- Partner with Construction Managers, General Contractors, and Regional Environmental Engineers to ensure environmental compliance across all phases of construction projects \n- Serve as the EMEA point of contact for construction environmental matters, providing guidance and technical support to project teams \n- Coordinate with environmental consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders (AWS Environmental Legal, Infrastructure Operations, Design Engineering) \n- Review design changes for environmental compliance implications and advise project teams accordingly\nMetrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement\n- Define and track environmental compliance metrics for the EMEA construction portfolio - build dashboards and reporting mechanisms for leadership visibility \n- Lead environmental incident investigations and oversee the implementation of corrective actions, including Root Cause Analyses and Corrections of Errors \n- Proactively identify systemic issues and drive improvements across the region through data analysis, trend identification, and best-practice sharing \n- Prepare regulatory reports and maintain documentation in line with program standards\nTraining & Capability Building\n- Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness programs for construction teams and contractors across EMEA \n- Share best practices and lessons learned across projects to raise the environmental performance bar \n- Build and maintain program documentation (playbooks, templates, guidance materials) to enable scalable execution\nAbout the team\nDiverse Experiences\nAmazon values diverse experiences.
