And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.\nAmazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Regional Chief Engineer (CE) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS. Specifically, this team works to ensure the safe and secure operation of the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to provide 99.999% availability for our customers. \nThe Regional CE is responsible for ensuring that all MEP equipment within the region is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The Regional CE serves as an expert technical resource interacting with on-site Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT), CEs, Facility Managers (FM), and third party vendors.\nThe Regional CE also manages medium-to-large projects and programs from conception to completion nationally and internationally. These projects and programs involve large amounts of independent work, as well as, collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in both local and global settings. The goals of such projects are for the Regional CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.\nKey job responsibilities\nOversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, to include HVSS\nOperate independently with limited direct management\nAct as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the region\nPerform root cause analysis of equipment failures\nCreate and deploy new standard practices for EOTs, CEs, and vendor support teams\nProvide training and guidance to EOTs, CEs, and FMs\nEnsure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff\nCommunicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience\nWork cross-functionally across teams to effect cluster-wide performance improvement with our internal and external partners by designing and implementing processes, metrics, and programs that enhance the end to end employee experience\nCollaborate effectively across teams to define strategy, goals, and obtain commitment to timelines and deliverables\nPhysical Requirements:\nWalk job sites in uneven terrain\nWork at heights and from ladders\nCoordinate body movements when using tools or equipment\nReach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance\nBend or twist the body into unusual positions while working\nUse hands to manipulate small wires and objects\nWork in a noisy environment\nWork at depths, such as under raised floors\nBasic qualifications\n- 5+ years of facilities management experience\n- Experience managing medium to large-scale projects\n- Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings\n- 5+ years of administrative experience including Microsoft Office products experience\nPreferred qualifications\n- Associate's degree in Mechnical or Electrical\n- Lean, Six Sigma, CPHQ, PMP, or related certification\n- Experience in training others\n- Operating engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent Stationary Engineering or Building Engineering License Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License CFC license NFPA 70E\n- Must be able to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
