The Fleet Planning team is looking for a Data Scientist to drive the most efficient use of fleet.\nAmazon Middle and Last Mile fleet planning is a complex resource allocation problem. The goal of fleet allocation planning is to optimize the size and mix of fleet allocated to various programs through. Changes in routes, network, exiting DSPs and new DSP onboarding create continuous need for re-allocation of fleet to maintain an efficient network capacity. This requires allocation to adhere to various operational limits (repair network, EV range, Station Charging capability) and also match route’s cube need to vehicles capacity. As a Data Scientist on the Fleet Planning team (GFP), you will be responsible for building new science models (linear programs, statistical and ML models) and enhancing existing models for changing business needs. You would work with program managers in planning, procurement, redeployment, deployment, remarketing, variable fleet and infrastructure programs to build models that would support the requirements of all programs in a coherent plan. \nKey job responsibilities\nBuild models and automation for planners for generating vehicle allocation plans\nPartner with program teams to test and measure success of implemented model\nLead reviews with senior leadership, deep dive model outputs and explain implications of model recommendations. \nBasic qualifications\n- 2+ years of data scientist experience\n- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience\n- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience\n- 1+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers experience\n- 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems experience\n- 1+ years of creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers, or educational content experience\n- Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or experience working in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)\nPreferred qualifications\n- Ph.D. in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)\n- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving\n- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language\n- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company\n- Experience in defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
