If you're energized by the opportunity to apply data science to our mission of making Amazon Earth's Best Employer, we want to hear from you.\nKey job responsibilities\nOwn the design, development, and maintenance of scalable models and prototypes leveraging statistical, machine learning, or GenAI methodologies to enhance employee experience.\nPartner with scientists, engineers, and product leaders to solve for employee experience defects using scientific approaches, building new services and tools that deliverable measurable impact.\nAuthor and maintain detailed technical documentation related to the projects you drive.\nCommunicate results to diverse audiences of varying technical background with effective writing, visualizations, and presentations\nStay current with emerging methods and technologies, and implement them strategically to amplify the team’s impact. About the team The Central Science Team within Amazon’s People Experience and Technology org (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, machine learning, and Generative AI to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well-being, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team, which combines the talents of science, engineering, and UX to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.\nBasic qualifications\n- 1+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience\n- 2+ years of data/research scientist, statistician or quantitative analyst in an internet-based company with complex and big data sources experience\n- 1+ years of creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers, or educational content experience\n- Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or experience working in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)\nPreferred qualifications\n- Ph.D. in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)\n- Knowledge of statistical packages and business intelligence tools such as SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS, or R\n- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving\n- Experience with clustered data processing (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Map-reduce, and Hive)\n- Experience working with or evaluating AI systems\n- Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and making data-driven business decisions\n- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
