You will set the technical bar across a broad portfolio, make data-driven calls when requirements are ambiguous, and influence US-based design teams and manufacturing partners without direct authority.\nThis role requires approximately 30% travel to ODM/CM partner sites across Greater China.\nKey job responsibilities\nOwn electrical sustaining engineering for multiple programs across the Echo, Fire TV, eReader and Tablet portfolios\nLead electrical evaluation and qualification of alternate / second-source components (memory, PMIC, DC/DC, passives, connectors), defining validation plans and sign-off criteria\nAssess supplier PCN / EOL notifications (e.g., fab transfer, die revision, process change) for electrical risk, and drive qualification or last-time-buy decisions\nIdentify and drive cost-reduction engineering changes, balancing BOM savings against electrical risk and validation effort\nDrive root cause and corrective action on mass-production yield issues and field returns through failure analysis and bench debug\nProvide engineering validation for factory and line transfers, ensuring electrical conformance at the new site\nDevelop and execute electrical validation test plans to ensure functional and parametric conformance, and report status at milestone gates\nRaise the technical bar across the team by setting validation standards, reviewing peers' analyses, and mentoring junior electrical engineers\nUse AI tools and write scripts to automate validation, data analysis and reporting where feasible About the team Amazon Devices Sustaining Engineering owns Amazon's consumer electronics after launch, covering Echo, Fire TV, eReader and Tablet products. Our job is to keep these products high quality, cost-competitive and supply-resilient for their whole production life. We work closely with US-based design teams, global supply chain and our ODM/CM partners across Greater China.\nBasic qualifications\n- BSEE with 10+ years, or MSEE with 8+ years, of experience in consumer electronics design, validation and/or manufacturing\n- 4+ years of experience leading and working with ODM/OEM/CM partners across product development and mass production\n- Experience with system-level hardware including circuit design, system bring-up, integration and debug\n- Experience in power regulation (AC-DC / DC-DC) and power management design, including schematic, layout review, validation and debug\n- Strong EE fundamentals and hands-on failure analysis and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory and factory environment\n- Knowledge of processor architecture, digital circuit design and communication protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI and I2S\n- Experience developing robust designs for ESD/EMI immunity and RF de-sensitization\n- Experience with schematic entry, layout review and design for manufacturability\n- English and Mandarin language skills\nPreferred qualifications\n- Master's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent\n- Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis\n- Experience with memory technologies (eMMC, UFS, DRAM, NAND), including component qualification and debug\n- Experience with high-speed design, signal integrity tools and noise suppression techniques, especially discrete DDR\n- Experience with audio front-end electrical design and validation using Audio Precision\n- Knowledge of battery management systems and battery-powered wireless embedded devices\n- Familiarity with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro tool flow\n- Automation and scripting experience (e.g., Python, shell)\n- Complete understanding of manufacturing processes, including DFM and DFT for consumer products\n- Strong communication and documentation skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional and cross-region teams while operating autonomously\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
