Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

The Amazon Center for Quantum Computing is seeking a Production Manager to lead the medium-volume production of control electronics systems for our experimental quantum computing platforms. Operating at a scale of hundreds of units per year, you will own the end-to-end production process for chassis-level and board-level electronics assemblies - from intake of engineering designs through assembly, test, and delivery to internal customers. You will manage and develop a small team of assembly and test technicians, setting the quality standards, work instructions, and processes that ensure consistent, reliable output. Beyond production execution, you will own the production laboratory space itself, including inventory management and the physical organization and standards of the facility. You will also co-manage the product lifecycle management (PLM) system alongside adjacent hardware engineering and business teams, ensuring alignment across design, production, and program management. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in electronics production at similar volumes, a hands-on understanding of what it takes to build and test complex electronic assemblies repeatably, and the leadership skills to build a high-performing production team from the ground up.

Key job responsibilities

- Own end-to-end production of control electronics assemblies (chassis builds, board-level assemblies, cable harnesses) at medium volume, managing the full lifecycle from procurement through assembly, test, and delivery.

- Lead production scheduling and capacity planning, managing trade-offs between product mix, technician utilization, and delivery commitments.

- Manage and develop a team of assembly and test technicians, setting standards, building a culture of quality and accountability, and serving as a technical escalation resource.

- Own the production laboratory space, including equipment, tooling, inventory, and environmental controls; co-manage the PLM system with adjacent hardware engineering and business teams.

- Partner with hardware engineering to provide DFM and DFT feedback on new designs, and lead root cause analysis and corrective action for production defects and quality escapes.

- Manage supply chain relationships, proactively identifying and mitigating component availability risks and lead-time issues.

- Drive continuous improvement through lean principles and process optimization; work with engineering and senior management to develop and execute production roadmaps aligned with the team's scaling plans.

A day in the life

Your morning starts with a technician standup, then a supply chain issue - a connector slipped its delivery date - that you work through with procurement. Mid-morning you walk the floor, inspecting work in progress. After lunch you flag a component placement problem in a new board design before it reaches production. Later you draft a work instruction update for a chassis assembly that keeps generating rework. You close the day in a roadmap review with senior management, presenting capacity forecasts and the infrastructure investments needed to hit next quarter's scaling targets.

About the team

You will join SIGNALS, a multidisciplinary team responsible for all electronics and signal delivery solutions in Amazon's quantum computing systems - spanning from the programmable logic software layer down to microwave signal delivery at the quantum processor package. The team brings together software, electrical, RF, and mechanical engineers solving tightly coupled problems across the full signal chain. As Production Manager, you will be the critical link between engineering design and production reality, ensuring the team's innovations are built reliably and delivered on schedule.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

- 5+ years of experience in electronics production, manufacturing, or test engineering.

- Hands-on experience with chassis-level and board-level electronics assembly processes.

- 2+ years of experience managing or supervising technicians or production staff.

- Working knowledge of inventory management and PLM, MRP, or ERP systems.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement production standards, work instructions, and quality processes.

Preferred qualifications

- Master's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or operations management.

- Experience with medium-volume, high-mix production environments (hundreds to low thousands of units per year).

- Familiarity with IPC standards for electronics assembly and workmanship.

- Experience managing supply chains for custom or low-volume electronic assemblies, including component obsolescence and alternate sourcing.

- Background in scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability electronics production.

- Experience providing DFM and DFT feedback to hardware engineering teams.
