In this role you will support the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that powers AWS cloud services.\nAWS data centres operate 24/7 and rely on highly reliable power and cooling systems. As a technician in this environment, you will perform hands-on maintenance, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure infrastructure systems operate safely and reliably.\nYou will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining mission-critical equipment including power distribution systems, generators, UPS systems and cooling infrastructure.\nThis role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data centre operations.\nKey job responsibilities\nPerform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems\nConduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure systems are operating correctly\nMonitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools\nAssist with fault finding and troubleshooting across infrastructure systems including power distribution and cooling equipment\nSupport operation and testing of critical systems including diesel generators, UPS systems, switchgear and cooling equipment\nSupervise specialist vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site\nFollow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all maintenance and operational activities\nParticipate in incident response and support troubleshooting during infrastructure events\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs\nSupport testing activities including generator tests and infrastructure failover exercises A day in the life\nPerforming daily plant inspections across electrical and mechanical infrastructure\nMonitoring alarms and system status through the Building Management System (BMS)\nResponding to infrastructure alerts and assisting with initial troubleshooting\nCarrying out planned preventative maintenance tasks on site equipment\nSupporting generator tests and infrastructure system checks\nSupervising vendors performing maintenance activities\nCompleting shift logs, plant status reports and operational handovers About the team The Data Centre Engineering Operations (DCEO) team is responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports AWS data centres. Our technicians operate and maintain complex mechanical and electrical systems that provide reliable power and cooling for AWS cloud services. The team works in a highly operational, safety-focused environment, where attention to detail and strong technical skills are essential to maintaining service availability.\nBasic qualifications\n- High school or equivalent diploma\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience in data center engineering\n- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience in managing and troublshooting network and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities\n- Electrical or mechanical qualification (apprenticeship, diploma or equivalent experience)\n- Experience working in data centres, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants or critical environments\n- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar monitoring systems\n- Experience working with permit-to-work or safety management systems\nAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
