As an Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll independently troubleshoot and maintain electrical and mechanical systems, and respond to operational issues with minimal supervision. Your work will help maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures. If you enjoy hands-on problem solving in a process-driven environment, we'd like to meet you!\nSwitzerland based candidates only (valid work permit required).\nKey job responsibilities\nOn-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.\nMaintain performance benchmarks, & prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations & maintenance.\nGenerate Change Management requests & Incident Management tickets as directed.\nLearn and contribute to documentation relevant to business & facility operations.\nAssist with rack installation and the provision of power/cooling.\nBecome involved with routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, cooling equipment, building monitoring systems, etc.\nAssist and learn about the design, implementation, commissioning and build out of new facilities.\nAssist with the management of facility assets.\nParticipate in Construction & Operational Meetings as required.\nAssist with Work Order compliance and review of contractual SLAs.\nInterface with Infra Ops teams for day to day operational requirements.\nAssist in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issue.\nDelivery of exceptional customer service and satisfaction.\nMeet daily hours of operations, on-call requirements for response outside of hours and potential future shift rotations.\nA day in the life\nYour day-to-day activities will include:\nMonitoring alarms and systems that manage power, cooling, and fire suppression in the data center.\nCoordinating vendor work on-site to ensure equipment is maintained and uptime is preserved.\nSupporting other teams and sites during events and planned works.\nHandling rack installations and powering up equipment.\nMonitoring and facilitating the handover of new equipment.\nSharing knowledge and supporting new team members.\nParticipating in event response drills.\nAbout the team\nAt AWS, we value diverse experiences. We welcome candidates from all career paths, regardless of your professional journey.\nBasic qualifications\n- Experience with electrical or mechanical systems, or equivalent\n- Knowledge of data center infrastructure including mechanical, electrical, controls and life safety systems\n- Familiarity with reading technical documentation and drawings\n- Computer literacy with Windows and common business applications\n- Fluency in English\n- Valid Swiss work permit required\n- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering diploma or equivalent\n- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls), or knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience in mission critical facilities (data center, oil and gas, marine industries, production or medical facilities)\n- Diploma or Degree in relevant technical field\n- Swiss electrical switching certification\n- Fluency in German\nAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
