What will you help us create? \nKey job responsibilities\nDrive a standardized and harmonized approach to Safety Compliance across Amazon’s suite of products\nBe a technical leader able to utilize deep knowledge and experience to support junior compliance engineers and design teams on safety compliance issues and failures\nDetermine the applicable regulations, standards, and safety requirements for new and existing products.\nCommunicate technical safety and compliance requirements to design teams, operations, and contract manufacturers.\nParticipate in electrical and mechanical system design reviews to ensure that safety mitigations are properly implemented.\nEngage with senior Amazon leaders to represent compliance-related topics.\nDirect compliance testing and certification at external labs.\nReview compliance evaluations for accuracy.\nContribute to international expansion and certification strategies.\nOversee all aspects of hardware compliance for a device when required.\nStay abreast of industry activities by participating in standards development committees or other industry organizations relevant to Lab126.\nA day in the life\nA typical day in this role involves working with cross-functional and outside partners on regulatory compliance initiatives, connecting with our product development team to drive key aspects of product definition, compliance requirement, testing execution and deep diving safety and other compliance issues. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an openly collaborative peer environment. \nAbout the team\nYou will be part of the Hardware Compliance Engineering team responsible to enable compliance, safety and international approval of Lab126, Ring and other devices. We do this by leveraging our global diverse foundation of subject matter expert, experienced global market access program managers, robust processes and mechanisms. Come be a part of the team with the mission to enable safe and compliant products to customers worldwide.\nBasic qualifications\n- 5+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience\n- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields\n- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems design\n- Experience handling product compliance, submitting products for global approvals, and obtaining certifications\n- Experience with the application of U.S. and international product safety standards (e.g. UL 62368, IEC 60601) and other EN, ANSI, CSA, ISO standards.\n- Experience evaluating the compliance of power supplies, direct-plug-ins, wearables, lasers, lighting powers, or toys.\n- Knowledge and experience conducting safety compliance tests for US and international standards.\nPreferred qualifications\n- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent\n- 2+ years of consumer electronics experience\n- Experience in handling internal & external audits\n- Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)\n- Experience working with equipment suppliers, laboratories and manufacturing plants\n- Experience performing the safety compliance assessment of devices in various categories\n- Experience with IEC standards - 62368 (Laboratory Equipment); 60601 (Medical equipment safety); 62471 (Lamps / LEDs); 60825 (Lasers) & Toy safety standards\n- Experience conducting product risk assessments or Hazard based assessments\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
