This program will provide an opportunity for Athletic Training students to complete a paid part-time 16-week onsite experience beginning January 2027. In this role, you will be a part of the local WHS team and will support both onsite injury prevention and proactive safety. This position will work in an Amazon Fulfillment Center alongside the site’s IPS team and report directly to the Site WHS Manager. You will work closely with associates one-on-one with the goal to improve physical movement techniques prior to the onset of soreness or injury through ergonomic training and engagement.\nThis internship is educational and professional in nature but does not qualify as a clinical education experience for CAATE accreditation requirements.\nKey job responsibilities\nProactive Prevention - Drive injury prevention through advanced data analysis and evidence-based solutions. Design and implement targeted ergonomic interventions based on risk assessment findings and injury trends. Lead comprehensive workplace evaluations to identify and eliminate potential hazards before they cause harm. Transform complex injury data into actionable strategies that protect associates and optimize work processes.\nWellness Education - Champion a culture of proactive health and injury prevention through innovative training programs and hands-on coaching. Develop and deliver engaging ergonomic education that empowers associates to make informed decisions about their wellbeing. Build trusted partnerships with operations teams to integrate prevention strategies into daily workflows. Create sustainable behavior change through personalized coaching and positive reinforcement techniques.\nAdditional Job Elements include:\nLift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.\nStand/walk for long durations during shifts.\nWork in an environment where the noise level varies.\nWork in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).\nContinuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).\nSubmit a student Project related to ergonomic improvement and/or injury reduction to be delivered to the site and presented to site WHS and Operations teams at the end of the internship.\nBasic qualifications\n- Currently enrolled in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training program\n- Eligible to sit for the BOC during the internship or within 6 months of internship end date\n- Must have one of the following:\n- Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by an approved emergency cardiac care (ECC) provider; AND Current First Aid certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; OR Current valid Adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.\nPreferred qualifications\n- Previous clinical experiences related to the occupational health setting.\n- Undergraduate degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Ergonomics, or related field.\n- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n- Problem solving mindset, proactive issue resolution skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.\n- Ability to work successfully in a fast-moving environment, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize workload even when faced with conflicting priorities.\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nLos Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.
