In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. \nYou’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.\nLogistics Specialists play a vital role in the success of Amazon Web Services by providing the right part, in the right place at the right time. Your contribution to this success would be maintaining the onsite parts room in AWS Data Centers, by managing the custody of computer hardware through their entire lifecycle. This involves receiving parts, safely storing parts, picking and delivering parts to hardware technicians, cycle counts, and shipping faulty hardware back to the vendor.\nYou will work closely with Data Centre Operations and Engineering teams to ensure reliable functioning and repair activities to support our customers, while adhering to our operational tenants of safety, security and availability.\nKey job responsibilities\n- Maintaining inventory to ensure that proper stock levels are managed to support build and repair activities.\n- Physically receiving and issuing out of parts as needed for internal customers.\n- Loading, unloading and transporting parts between different sites.\n- Maintaining the safety, organization, and cleanliness of all workspaces using Amazon 7S principles\n- Process improvement: Analyse operational data, metrics, and existing workflows to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement changes that reduce cycle times, eliminate waste, and improve SLA adherence. \n- Automation: Identify repetitive, manual tasks suitable for automation, such as reporting, inventory tracking, or ticket triage, and build or propose tooling solutions to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy. This could include developing scripts, dashboards, templates, or leveraging existing internal platforms to streamline workflows.\n- Standardisation: Drive consistency in how logistics operations are performed across sites within the cluster. Create or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, and visual management aids to ensure all team members follow the same processes.\n- Metrics and visibility: Develop or enhance metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that give the team and leadership better visibility into logistics performance, enabling data-driven decision-making and faster identification of emerging issues.\n- Continuous improvement culture: Proactively bring forward improvement ideas and contribute to a culture where the team is always looking for a better way to operate.\nTravel:\n- The role may require the successful candidate to travel to other sites in the in the Melbourne metro area to assist in conducting cycle counts, receiving stock into the inventory control system, replenishing stock and returning defective stock. Travel between sites will require own transport, all travel related costs will be reimbursed.\nProcess Optimisation & Automation\nPhysical / Environmental Demands:\n- Amazon Operates with a principle of safety first. With this principle, we take significant care to ensure all employees operate in a safe manner and have appropriate tools to support them in undertaking their roles safely. The activities below are required with the safety principle applied.\n- Loading and unloading shipments.\n- Standing, sitting, and walking (including stairs) for prolonged periods of time.\n- Willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and kneel.\n- Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.\n- Push or pull heavy objects of up to 16kg into position and participate in group lifts of 20kg or more.\n- Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.\n- Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts.\n- Work in an office and warehouse environment where the noise level is low to moderate.\nA day in the life\nYour day will be spent carrying out logistical support functions across our Data Centers, ensuring that our operations teams have the parts and materials they need to keep infrastructure running. You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of spare parts, from receiving and ingesting inbound shipments at the loading dock, to stowing parts in designated bin locations, processing break/fix and project part requests, and coordinating outbound shipments including site-to-site transfers and reverse logistics.\nYou will process failed parts through inventory bins, and handle Failure Analysis requests requiring parts to be shipped centrally for testing.\nInventory accuracy is a core part of the role. You will conduct regular cycle counts to maintain alignment between physical stock and system records, targeting 100% bin count completion each semester. You will review metric dashboards daily to proactively identify bins approaching SLA and take action before breaches occur.\nThe role also involves physical work including lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment. You will be expected to travel between sites across the cluster as needed to support operations and coverage.\nAbout the team\nAbout AWS\nDiverse Experiences \nAmazon values diverse experiences.
