If you are energized by coaching engineers, navigating ambiguity, and making meaningful architectural decisions, this is an opportunity to do all of that at Amazon's scale.\nKey job responsibilities\n- Lead and grow a software development team, setting the team's charter, vision, and roadmap while ensuring delivery of high-quality, maintainable software systems across the full lifecycle.\n- Define and own the 1-2 year technical strategy for your team's products and systems, making architectural decisions that balance scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability.\n- Coach and develop engineers through collaborative development planning, actionable feedback, and strategic project assignments that accelerate individual growth and strengthen the team's overall capabilities.\n- Partner with product management, peer engineering teams, and stakeholders to align priorities, resolve cross-team dependencies, and deliver cohesive solutions that address customer needs.\n- Establish operational metrics and audit mechanisms to measure system health and customer experience, proactively identifying risks and driving simplification of processes and architecture.\nA day in the life\nYou might start your morning reviewing operational dashboards and triaging an incoming request from a partner team, then shift into a design review where you challenge assumptions and help engineers refine their approach. After a one-on-one coaching session with a direct report, you collaborate with product and engineering peers to prioritize the next quarter's roadmap. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
