Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operational Program Manager to lead the integration, execution, and delivery of U.S. Government and Department of Defense (DoD) procurement programs for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite systems, ground gateways, and ALG uniquely developed products. This role sits at the critical intersection of government sales requirements, supply chain procurement, contract execution, and invoicing ensuring that complex federal acquisition programs move forward with regulatory compliance, operational precision, and accountability.

In this role, you will serve as the central point of coordination between ALG government sales teams (Leo for Government), engineering, supply chain and procurement operations, contracts and compliance, mission assurance, and finance translating unique U.S. Government and DoD satellite communication requirements into executable procurement orders, compliant contract actions, and accurate invoicing workflows. You will be responsible for the detailed analysis and execution of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements, including supply chain risk management provisions under DFARS Part 252.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, possesses deep knowledge of federal procurement regulations, and has a proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders - from engineering and sourcing teams to government contracting officers - without direct authority. You will own the end-to-end operational program lifecycle for government procurement actions, from requirements integration through contract execution, order fulfillment, and financial close-out.

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Integration & Program Strategy

  • Integrate and translate requirements from Leo for Government sales teams into actionable procurement plans, ensuring alignment with U.S. Government and DoD contract terms, specifications, and delivery schedules
  • Conduct detailed analysis of FAR and DFARS requirements applicable to each procurement action, including but not limited to DFARS Part 252 clauses related to supply chain risk management, cybersecurity (CMMC), counterfeit parts prevention, and Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance
  • Define program vision, scope, objectives, success criteria, and key milestones for government procurement programs in partnership with ALG leadership, contracts & compliance, and mission assurance teams
  • Develop comprehensive procurement execution plans including timelines, resource requirements, supplier dependencies, regulatory compliance checkpoints, and risk assessments
  • Translate government contract requirements (e.g., CDRLs, SOWs, CLINs) into internal procurement roadmaps with clear ownership and accountability Procurement Execution & Order Management
  • Drive day-to-day execution of procurement orders for LEO satellite systems, sub-systems, ground gateway components, customer terminals, and ALG uniquely developed products
  • Coordinate with sourcing leads, engineers, supply chain operations, and third-party suppliers to ensure timely and compliant fulfillment of government orders
  • Manage procurement workflows for both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items and government-specific configurations requiring anti-tampering, GPS tracking, RFID tagging, secure storage, and supply chain risk management protocols at WAS19
  • Oversee Third Party Supplier Assessments (TPSAs) by ensuring engineers and sourcing leads provide required inputs and that assessments meet DFARS supply chain security requirements
  • Manage complex interdependencies across procurement actions, engineering milestones, test venue requirements (e.g., Flatsat/HITL), and government delivery schedules Security Clearance: This position requires that the selected candidate be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI. About the team This Operational Program Manager will be the rocket fuel behind Amazon Leo's ability to win and deliver on DoD satellite communication contracts transforming complex government procurement requirements into compliant, executable actions with speed and precision that collapse cycle times from sales commitment to fulfilled delivery. As the critical bridge between Leo engineering teams and procurement execution, this role is the linchpin that builds DoD customer confidence in Leo's mission readiness, ironclad regulatory compliance, and proven ability to put operationally capable Low Earth Orbiting satellite systems, ground gateways, and customer terminals in the warfighter's hands on schedule and within contract terms.
