Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is building a world-class last mile operation in Japan. AMZL aims to exceed customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively.

The Amazon Logistics Japan Process Engineering team is seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the standardization and optimization of our Last Mile delivery network to meet safety, customer experience, productivity, quality, and cost goals.

The successful candidate will lead optimization of AMZL Delivery Stations by driving process innovations, developing safe and efficient equipment, and creating infrastructure design standards. You will partner closely with regional Operations and Operations Support teams to identify best practices and establish them as JP AMZL network design standards.

This role involves continuous communication with local functional business owners and technical Engineering teams at the World-Wide level. You will continuously develop, pilot, formalize, and deploy design changes while supporting prioritization of JP and WW continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is based in Tokyo. The position requires regular domestic and international travel (approximately 25% of work time).

At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.

Key job responsibilities

1. Design and implement equipment and process solutions - Lead the design, piloting, and deployment of equipment and processes that measurably improve safety, ergonomics, operational cost, capacity, and throughput across AMZL Japan delivery stations.

2. Drive standardization and documentation - Create, maintain, and improve design process standards to ensure consistency in equipment specifications and operational processes across the Japan network, enabling scalable deployment.

3. Manage cross-functional project delivery - Lead multiple concurrent projects from concept through implementation, coordinating with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Tech, and external suppliers to deliver on time and within budget.

4. Generate innovative solutions to operational challenges - Identify operational pain points through site visits and data analysis, then develop and validate creative engineering solutions that address root causes and deliver quantifiable improvements.

5. Provide technical expertise and reporting - Serve as the technical subject matter expert for assigned areas, delivering regular progress updates and recommendations to leadership while ensuring alignment with network-wide engineering roadmaps and business objectives.
