You must have a professional demeanor and be able to partner with people at every level.\nKey job responsibilities\n- Establish category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position \n- Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use\n- Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities\n- Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed\n- Drive category suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon\n- Identify, achieve and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities\n- Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category\nA day in the life\nThe Packaging Category Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of packaging material categories, including strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, tender execution, and contract management. On a daily basis, this role drives cost optimization through spend analysis, negotiation and competitive bidding processes while managing a portfolio of supplier relationships to ensure quality, capacity and on-time delivery. The role requires close cross-functional collaboration with operations, finance, RDPI, engineering and logistics teams to align packaging specifications, secure supply for peak periods, and resolve escalations. Additionally, the Category Manager monitors market trends, manages international supplier coordination across regions, and delivers savings, manages risks, and drives project milestones; making it a critical role in ensuring packaging supply continuity and cost competitiveness.\nBasic qualifications\n- 3+ years of program or project management experience\n- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience\n- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience\n- 2+ years of supply chain experience\n- Bachelor's degree\n- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL\n- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements\nPreferred qualifications\n- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience\n- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience\n- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization\n- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
