The WHSS promotes a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting trainings and coaching associates on observed work habits. \nThe WHSS must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train associates, operations leaders and WHS coordinators in Amazon policies and procedures and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the landscape. \nThe WHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, WHSS will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce safety and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful WHS Specialist will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis. The WHSS will also support site WHS manager on the development of the WHS Management System for Australia, establishment of adequacy of WHS procedures and training materials, maintaining compliance calendar, Austin tools, reviewing WHS documents and setting up inspection/audit programs, etc., to meet local requirements and Amazon Global WHS Standards(GEMS). \nThis role will support all the AMZL sites in the metro area and may require travel between sites at regular intervals. This role may have alternating shifts. \nKey job responsibilities\nWHSS, you will oversee the delivery of WHS objectives at the Site. This includes proactively collaborating on safety projects across the site and providing advice and guidance on WHS matters. \nYou will ensure compliance with Amazon's Workplace Health & Safety policies and global standards. This involves completing risk assessments, measuring site performance against requirements, and analyzing safety metrics to identify improvement opportunities. \nFrequent site audits and inspections to identify and rectify non-compliance issues with equipment/ processes. You will audit record-keeping practices to align with global standards and regulations. \nLeading and mentoring the on-site safety team, you will identify compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities. You will facilitate incident investigations and maintain required documentation, entering safety incidents in the database in a timely manner. \nAdditionally, you will conduct safety observations and audits, provide targeted training, and participate in process improvement activities. \nA day in the life \nReview metrics as published in DDD dashboard. \nIdentify metric callouts and allocate the owners who shall talk through during DDD meeting. \nModerate the WHS metrics/data discussion during DDD meeting. \nReview investigation, root cause analysis and action plan, submitted by responsible manager, provide feedback as needed.
