We are Amazon Robotics and we will give you the tools and support you need to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling and fun.\nKey job responsibilities\nDesign and analyze control systems for robotic actuators and manipulators, including impedance control, force control, and advanced motion control strategies\nBuild mathematical models of actuator systems in MATLAB/Simulink to predict performance, conduct trade studies, and validate control approaches\nDevelop control architecture and analyze system stability, bandwidth, and performance\nDesign filters, observers, and signal processing algorithms to address real-world limitations such as sensor noise, bandwidth constraints, backlash, and actuator saturation\nLead cross-functional design integration across mechanical (motors, gearboxes), electrical (motor controllers, encoders, sensors), and software (control algorithms) domains\nIdentify system-level solutions that optimize across components rather than individual parts in isolation, finding creative trade-offs between mechanical design, electrical capability, and control strategy\nDerive performance requirements and allocations across subsystems to ensure integrated systems meet motion control objectives\nConduct trade space studies to evaluate control architecture alternatives, comparing performance, cost, complexity, risk, and timeline\nLead technical risk assessments and failure mode identification for control systems, including stability margins and fault tolerance analysis\nGenerate technical artifacts (models, analyses, requirements, test plans) that influence subsystem designs across mechanical, electrical, and software teams\nBasic qualifications\n- Experience developing and testing mechanical robotics equipment\n- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems\n-\nExperience with system-modeling techniques and data-processing software (Matlab, Python, or similar) -\nDeep knowledge of electrical-drives systems -\nKnowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems -\nKnowledge of industry standard design tools and methodologies -\n5+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems -\nExperience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and test procedures -\nExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production - Master’s Degree Control Theory, Mathematics, Robotics, or similar.\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations\n- Experience in the Quality Assurance/testing domain\nAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
