Amazon's 1P Lending team is looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) to design and build the systems behind our lending products in Brazil and Mexico.\nYou'll build and own services that handle customer onboarding, credit decisioning, loan servicing, repayments, and integration with local partners and regulators. These are critical financial systems, so they must be correct, secure, auditable and highly available.\nYou'll be part of a team of engineers in São Paulo and work closely with engineering teams in India and with Product, Risk, Finance and Compliance partners in Brazil and Mexico. You'll own features from design to production, help shape the team's architecture, and see your work directly affect customers' access to credit.\nWe're looking for a strong engineer with high ownership. You should enjoy solving hard problems, write high-quality code, and care about how your systems behave in production.\nKey job responsibilities\nDesign and build: Design, write, test and launch scalable, reliable services and features for lending products in Brazil and Mexico.\nOwn your systems from start to finish: Take features from requirements and technical design through deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvement.\nContribute to architecture: Write and review design docs, weigh technical trade-offs, and help shape the team's system architecture with senior engineers and the SDM.\nBuild for financial services: Build in the security, data privacy, auditability and correctness that regulated lending systems need, including local requirements in Brazil and Mexico.\nWork across geographies: Work with engineering teams in India and partner teams in Brazil and Mexico on shared services, integrations and launches.\nRun what you build: Take part in on-call, debug production issues, lead root-cause analysis and make lasting fixes.\nRaise the bar: Do thorough code reviews, improve engineering practices, and mentor junior engineers and interns.\nWork with business partners: Partner with Product, Risk and Compliance to turn customer and regulatory needs into technical solutions.\nA day in the life\nOn a given day you might:\nWrite the design doc for a new repayment-scheduling service.\nReview a teammate's code and suggest a simpler approach.\nPair with an engineer in India to debug an integration issue.\nWork with Risk to understand a new credit-decisioning rule.\nShip a feature to production and watch its metrics after launch.\nYou'll split your time between design, coding, operations and working with your team and partners.\nBasic qualifications\n- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development\n- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems\n- Experience programming with at least one software programming language\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations\n- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
