Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

At Amazon, security is one of our highest priorities. The Amazon Vulnerability Management Services (AVMS) organization is responsible for discovering vulnerabilities, assessing their risk, and ensuring remediation within SLA across all AWS and SDO. Within AVMS, the Discovery Insights Foundry (DIF) team serves as the central analytics and reporting platform for how security data is defined, governed, and consumed.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join the DIF team and help build AI-driven, executive-level leadership reporting that gives senior leaders real-time insight into the state of Vulnerability Management across AWS. You will build a product from the ground up, spanning interactive data visualization, data analytics pipelines, AI-powered agent orchestration, MCP (Model Context Protocol) services, and team-level operational integration. The product will enable both a high-level organizational view and a drill-down capability for leaders to dive deep into specific areas.

This is a unique opportunity to combine full-stack software engineering with AI/ML, data engineering, and security domain expertise. The systems you build will be used by VP and Director-level leadership to make decisions that directly affect the security posture of the world's largest cloud provider.

Key job responsibilities

- You will manage and mentor a high performing team of engineers, fostering a collaborative environment, conducting performance reviews, and promoting professional growth.

- You will define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for our cloud-based security products and services, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on requirements and priorities.

- You will review architecture design and overseeing software development of highly scalable systems.

- You will communicate technical concepts, project status, and risk assessments to stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.

- You will ensure that security is integrated throughout the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and promote continuous innovation to enhance the security, performance, and scalability of our cloud-based solutions.

A day in the life

As the manager of the team you own vision and mission of the team. You will attend daily operations calls, team standups, and meet with stakeholders regarding short-term/long-term projects. You will weekly meet with your team to discuss their career goals, and passions. You will lead operational excellence initiatives. You will partner with your Sr. SDEs to create architectures that will scale for the long term. You will provide guidance to senior leaders on long-term technical strategies and approaches to solving problems within your domain.

About the team

The total team size will be about 8-10 when the build out is complete. They will lead the charge on building and maintaining Tier-1 systems for all vulnerability management.
