In this role, you will build the cloud foundation and applications that connect robots to customer experiences and internal operations as we scale. \nThe ideal candidate has built distributed systems that connect physical devices to cloud services end to end. They are comfortable building and operating the services they own from prototyping through launch and beyond. They make sound architectural tradeoffs across privacy, security, reliability, delivery speed, and cost when requirements are still evolving. They work effectively across robotics, product, and operations teams while remaining hands-on in design and implementation. \nKey job responsibilities\n- Build and own the cloud services that connect a growing fleet of robots to customer experiences and internal operations \n- Build operational telemetry ingestion pipelines that process high-frequency robot signals \n- Select technologies where the stack is undefined, document the decisions, and set patterns for a growing team \n- Join the on-call rotation for the services you own and drive incident response \n- Work with science, engineering, and product teams to define requirements and operationalize new workflows \nAbout the team\nFauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. It's an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build. \nIf you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we're interested in hearing from you.\nBasic qualifications\n- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience\n- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience\n- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field\n- 3+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience\n- 3+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience\n- Experience working in a cloud based development and production environment such as AWS\n- Experience owning a service end to end: design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and incident response\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience building backends for physical devices, where clients drop off the network and return with stale state.\n- Experience with device or fleet connectivity at scale: MQTT, device identity and certificate management, offline-tolerant sync, or an IoT platform (AWS IoT Core, Greengrass, or equivalent).\n- Experience with real-time telemetry ingestion and streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, or time-series stores).\n- Experience with over-the-air update delivery and staged fleet rollouts.\n- Experience securing connected devices: secure provisioning, secrets management, and data privacy.\n- Experience with infrastructure as code and operational tooling (Terraform, CDK, Kubernetes).\n- Experience in robotics, automotive, connected home, or another domain where software runs on hardware in the field.\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
