Collaboration with various stakeholders will be essential to drive the development and management of mechanical design specifications and support the Enterprise Building Automation System being deployed across the worldwide network.\nKey job responsibilities\nThe Sr Mechanical Engineer will be the single-threaded leader on mechanical design initiatives across the EU region while:\nDefine, document, communicate and own mechanical and plumbing engineering design standards.\nMaintain basis of design (BOD) for mechanical and plumbing disciplines.\nTracking key metrics and performance\nFunctioning as consulting SME to stakeholders\nBuilding business cases and marketing building improvements\nWorking across the industry to understand trends and develop scalable technologies\nSupporting the implementation of processes and programs that drive cost optimization in building operations\nLeading and supporting pilot projects to test innovative mechanical solutions\nOwn prototype equipment specifications and approval for non-prototype equipment.\nDevelop and execute technical goals related to mechanical and plumbing cost reduction, continuous improvement, and sustainability.\nDevelop, cultivate, and manage relationships with third-party engineering consultants. Track and manage quality and cost of consultant work product.\nWork cross functionally with other Amazon physical retail business groups to share and develop best practices and lessons learned.\nMaintain commissioning standards in partnership with internal Maintenance teams.\nManage projects and effectively influence and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.\nAbout the team\nGlobal Building Design & Engineering (GBDE) is the centralized, Architectural and Engineering subject matter expert for Global Customer Fulfillment (GCF), Amazon Transportation Services (ATS), and Global Delivery Services (GDS). The primary functions of GBD are to create and maintain facility design templates, criteria, and guidelines, and centralize facility construction standards, and global design references for output of frugality and the highest standards for those templates. The team creates value for the Operations Network by aggregating business and cross-functional requirements to drive cost control, operational functionality efficiency, consistency, and safety to facilitate rapid decision making.\nBasic qualifications\n- Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering\n- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients\n- Experience in project or program management\n- Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)\n- Experience in the field of engineering in industrial/commercial/retail buildings with experience designing HVAC systems.\n- Knowledge of Building, Mechanical, - Electrical, Plumbing and Refrigeration Codes\n- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads\n- Strong organizational skills\nPreferred qualifications\n- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering\n- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification\n- Experience in Industrial design, refrigeration design, Revit design and/or smoke exhaust systems\n- Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices\n- Experience in use of CFD tools\n- Work experience within field execution, i.e. with General Contractors\n- Construction contract and designer contract legal experience, Blue Book, FIDIC, Code law contracts\n- Cost Management or Quantity Surveying experience\n- Professional fluency in English and speaking of other EU language(s)\nAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
