Alameda removes the undifferentiated lift of writing services, while simultaneously providing secure by default, AWS scaled runtime services.\nWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer to lead the Alameda Observability team and innovate new observability infrastructure powering RDS - a massive distributed system architecture supporting one of the largest managed database fleets on the planet.\nThis space is on an accelerated high-growth trajectory with opportunities to rethink how traditional observability services were built and reimagine them as cloud-native from the ground up. The work requires solving the hardest engineering challenges in distributed systems and networking at massive scale, with significant bottom-line impact on the RDS business and competitive position.\nA successful candidate will have the experience and skill to set a strategic technical vision, provide hands-on guidance to the team, innovate on developer experience, and drive operational efficiency.\nKey job responsibilities\nOur engineers collaborate across diverse teams, projects, and environments to have a firsthand impact on our global customer base. You’ll bring a passion for innovation, data, search, analytics, and distributed systems. You’ll also:\n- Solve challenging technical problems, often ones not solved before, at every layer of the stack.\n- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.\n- Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.\n- Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.\nA day in the life\nAs you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you’ll create metrics, implement automation and other improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
