You’ll be part of a team integrating new silicon, hardware, firmware, and software into a revolutionary system architecture.\nKey job responsibilities\n- Partner with hardware design teams to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT), providing early feedback that reduces cost, defects, and ramp risk.\n- Work with design partners and contract manufacturer (CM/ODM) sites to set up assembly, test, and burn-in processes, tooling, and fixtures that enable reliable manufacturing of Graviton-based servers.\n- Define functional, stress, and in-circuit test coverage; drive first-pass yield up and defect/DPPM rates down through data-driven root cause analysis.\n- Review, identify, and qualify second-source components to enable continuity of supply.\n- Continuously assess process capability and innovate to simplify processes, reduce cost, and shorten cycle time across Graviton server development and manufacturing.\n- Own defect containment, RMA root-cause, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement of production quality and reliability.\n- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - design, SI/PI, firmware, supply chain, and quality - to improve product design, processes, and quality.\n- Work with upstream vendors and downstream customers to optimize the entire value stream and build joint processes that drive better cost and cycle time.\n- Willingness to travel 4-6 times per year (approximately 1 week per trip) to design partner and manufacturing sites.\nAbout the team\nOur Graviton System group owns the design, manufacturing, and health of the Arm-based server fleet powering Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud). We work close to the metal - across firmware, board bring-up, diagnostics, and hardware debug - to keep servers running and return failed units to production fast. In close partnership with design partners, data center operations, and hardware engineering teams, we bring new server platforms into the fleet and drive them to launch faster, healthier, and more reliably, at a scale that directly impacts millions of customers around the world.\nIf you are a systems, HW, or SW engineer who thrives on hard problems at the intersection of hardware and software, enjoys root-causing failures on real servers, and wants to see your work make a measurable difference across a global fleet - we would love to talk.\nBasic qualifications\n- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.\n- 6+ years of experience bringing hardware products from design through mass production- including production test development, process development, and yield management.\n- 6+ years experience with electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, assembly, system integration, test, and burn-in) and the supporting test equipment.\n- Demonstrated ability to conduct manufacturing bring-up, failure analysis, and root cause investigation in both a lab and a production environment -on-site and at external CM/ODM partner sites.\nPreferred qualifications\n- Experience ramping server, networking, or data center hardware, especially multi-socket or GPU/AI platforms.\n- Experience with production testing of DDR4/5, PCIe Gen4/5/6, CXL, and 100/400GbE.\n- Knowledge of SPC, DOE, Six Sigma, and yield/data analytics.\n- Experience in sustaining engineering, root cause analysis, ECOs, yield improvement, and vendor/CM support.\n- Experience with Bash, Python, or SQL for data analysis, automation, or process monitoring; familiarity with AI-assisted tools.\n- Exposure to networking, storage, or Linux-based servers.\n- Strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration across design, test, firmware, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
