Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Are you ready to own a business and shape how millions of customers discover and purchase products? As a Retail Vendor Manager II at Amazon, you will manage the full profit-and-loss for your category cohort, building vendor relationships, negotiating terms, and driving growth strategies that directly impact the customer experience. You will combine analytical rigor with creative problem-solving to identify trends, optimize selection and pricing, and deliver results in a fast-paced retail environment. If you are a self-starter who thrives on turning data into action and building lasting partnerships, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale.

Key job responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end P&L for your assigned category cohort, analyzing key financial metrics to make strategic decisions on pricing, selection, and convenience that drive both top-line and bottom-line performance.

- Lead vendor negotiations with a strategic approach, securing competitive terms and cost structures while building long-term, mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

- Conduct deep-dive data analysis to identify root causes, uncover growth opportunities, and inform category strategies that address both short- and long-term business goals.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including marketing, finance, and operations-to coordinate product launches, optimize inventory levels, and improve the overall customer experience.

- Develop and communicate 1-2 year category plans, proactively gathering customer and industry insights to recommend process improvements and scalable solutions that increase efficiency.

A day in the life

You might start your morning reviewing category performance dashboards and identifying areas where pricing or selection adjustments could unlock growth. By mid-morning, you are preparing for a vendor negotiation, pulling together data points and strategic levers to secure favorable terms. After lunch, you join a cross-functional meeting to align on an upcoming product launch timeline with marketing and operations partners. Later, you dig into a category deep dive, analyzing trends and drafting recommendations for your leadership team. Throughout the day, you balance tactical execution with strategic thinking as you build your category's roadmap.
