Achieve.\nIf that's you, join us - the intelligence everywhere revolution starts here.\nAustin, TX - Onsite (5 days/week)\nU.S. Work Authorization Required (No Sponsorship Available)\nArchitect the Software Foundation for Ultra-Low-Power Edge AI Silicon\nAmbiq designs and ships ultra-low-power Edge AI MCUs that enable real-time intelligence directly on device.\nWe are expanding our Austin engineering organization and hiring a Principal Embedded Software Architect to define the software architecture and requirements for our next-generation Edge AI MCU platforms.\nThis role sits at the hardware/software boundary - partnering directly with SoC architects, product teams, IP vendors, and embedded software leaders to shape how our silicon is exposed, controlled, optimized, and validated.\nYou won’t just write code.\nYou will define how the system behaves.\nWhat You’ll Own\nAs Embedded Software Architect, you will:\nDefine the software architecture for next-generation low-power Edge AI MCUs\n\nDrive early-stage functional allocation between hardware and software\n\nDevelop and refine Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) tied to real customer use cases\n\nLead architectural decisions across:\nMulti-processor communication\n\nControl/data plane separation\n\nData movement acceleration\n\nMemory management and protection\n\nDynamic resource allocation\n\nPower optimization strategies\n\nDebug and visibility tooling\n\nPartner with SoC architects to influence hardware/software trade-offs\n\nSupport software prototyping to validate architectural decisions\n\nAct as architectural SME through implementation, validation, and bring-up phases\n\nReview designs, test plans, and implementation details to ensure alignment with architectural intent\n\nMentor engineers and define best practices across embedded teams\n\nThis is a high-impact architectural role influencing multiple MCU generations.\nTechnical Environment\nYou will work deeply across:\nARM Cortex-M architectures\n\nBare metal and RTOS-based systems\n\nAsymmetric multi-core systems\n\nInter-processor communication (OpenAMP, RPMsg, etc.)\n\nData movement engines and acceleration blocks\n\nMMU/MPU, caches, shared memory, dual-port memory\n\nPower management (DVFS, clock gating, low-power states)\n\nFPGA-based emulation platforms and full reference systems\n\nYou will be embedded within engineering teams while influencing cross-functional decisions across silicon and software domains.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nRequired Experience\nBS or MS in EE, CE, or CS\n\n12+ years developing embedded software for real-time systems\n\nDeep experience on ARM Cortex-M platforms\n\nStrong C/C++ (assembly experience preferred)\n\nExperience defining and writing Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)\n\nStrong understanding of:\nFunctional allocation\n\nRequirements traceability\n\nTestability across pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms\n\nExperience with asymmetric multicore architectures\n\nStrong knowledge of memory systems, data movement, and processor interaction\n\nAbility to independently drive architectural decisions\n\nPreferred Experience\nPower optimization strategies in embedded systems\n\nTrustZone for M-class microcontrollers\n\nTrusted firmware environments\n\nGraphics, display, or audio/video processing\n\nExperience working with IP vendors and external silicon partners\n\nWhy This Role Is Different\nDirect architectural influence on Edge AI MCU platforms\n\nClose collaboration with silicon architects and IP vendors\n\nOwnership across early-stage definition through validation\n\nOpportunity to shape hardware/software trade-offs that impact power, performance, and scalability\n\nAustin-based collaboration culture with tight hardware/software integration\n\nThis is a principal-level role for engineers who want to define system behavior - not just implement features.\nLocation & Work Authorization\nAustin, TX - Onsite 5 days per week\nMust be authorized to work in the United States.
