As a Senior QA Engineer, you will embed with one or more Agile Scrum teams to validate and continuously improve our in-house developed software. This is a hands-on engineering role: you will design and maintain UI, API, and data-validation test frameworks in Java and Python, wire them into CI/CD so they run unattended against every build. You will gain experience with modern test tooling, cloud-native delivery, and AI-assisted testing. Knowledge of genetic testing, molecular biology, or other scientific disciplines is a strong plus but is not required. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in a positive and creative work environment that offers great benefits and opportunities for growth.\nKey Responsibilities\nParticipate with your teams in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives; represent quality and testability from the start of a story, not at the end of the sprint.\nBuild and maintain automated tests for web UI, REST APIs and databases, and hold test code to the same standards as production code.\nOwn the regression suites for your applications: grow coverage, fix or remove flaky tests, and keep them running in CI/CD after every deployment and nightly.\nTest for HIPAA and SOX compliance, including how PHI is handled, who can access it and what gets logged, and keep tests traceable to requirements.\nAnalyze test results and triage failures quickly: separate real product defects from environment, data, and test-harness issues, identify root cause, and drive resolution with clear, reproducible bug reports.\nValidate scheduled night-time and off-hours deployments, and confirm post-deployment health in lower and production environments.\nParticipate in risk assessments, validation processes, and release readiness reviews; provide a clear, evidence-based go/no-go quality recommendation.\nMaintain traceability from requirements and specifications through test cases to results, especially for regulated components.\nApply AI-assisted tooling responsibly to accelerate test authoring, failure triage, and coverage analysis, while remaining accountable for the correctness of every test that ships.\nMentor junior QA engineers through pairing and code review, and help internal users troubleshoot when needed.\nQualifications\n8+ years in software QA, including 5+ years writing test automation.\nStrong programming ability in at least one language used for automation, Java and/or Python preferred\nHands-on UI automation with Playwright or Selenium.\nAPI testing with REST Assured, Postman or similar, including schema, contract and authentication checks.\nExperience running tests in CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar), with reporting such as Allure.\nSolid SQL (e.g., MySQL) and a careful approach to test data when it's regulated.\nExperience with performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling.\nWorking knowledge of HIPAA, HL7 and FHIR.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nPreferred\nISTQB/ASTQB certification.\nExperience with AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3) or Azure, and with Docker.\nExperience in a regulated environment such as a CLIA/CAP lab, FDA, SOX.\n\nPRIVACY NOTICES\nTo review Ambry’s Privacy Notice, Click here: https://www.ambrygen.com/legal/privacy-policy\nTo review the California privacy notice, click here: California Privacy Notice | Ambry Genetics\nTo review the UKG privacy notice, click here: California Privacy Notice | UKG\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
