The company also operates AMC Studios, our in-house studio, production, and distribution operation behind acclaimed and fan-favorite originals including The Walking Dead Universe and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and AMC Networks International, our international programming business.\nWe are currently seeking aAssociate Counsel to join our Legal team in our New York, NY location.\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAssist in providing day-to-day legal counsel and support to a broad array of business units, including Production, Creative, Finance, Insurance and Human Resources, as needed. \nReview and advise on legal matters arising during content production, including evaluating rights issues; reviewing content for copyright, trademark, and defamation risks; and advising on employment matters. \nAssist in managing AMC’s litigation docket, including helping to develop and implement litigation strategy. \nAnalyze and interpret contracts and provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues in a wide range of legal areas. \nWork closely with members of the Studio business affairs team to draft and negotiate production-related agreements. \nHelp develop and refine Studio and Corporate forms and policies. \nQUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)\nJ.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. \nMember of the New York Bar in good standing. \nMinimum of two years of legal experience, including experience at a law firm with an emphasis on litigation. Experience in an in-house legal or business affairs department at a studio, advertising agency, production company, or comparable media company is preferred. \nKnowledge of intellectual property, labor and employment, defamation, rights of publicity, or privacy law is preferred. \nFamiliarity with entertainment industry development, production, transactions, and standards is preferred. \nExcellent communication, drafting, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the legal team and across business divisions. \nSelf-starter with strong attention to detail. \nExcellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters across disciplines, follow through, and meet deadlines. \nEagerness and ability to learn and retain new substantive matters quickly. \nSound judgment and the ability to remain effective in a fast-paced, demanding environment. \nDemonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment, including in ambiguous situations. \nAbility to identify and resolve legal issues efficiently and communicate effectively with all levels of leadership. \nThe base compensation for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience.
