The engineers of the mid-1900s put a man on the moon in eight years, designed and built planes and submarines from scratch in under three, and conceived of building things we wouldn’t even be able to dream up today.\nToday, the last of the engineers who imagined and built these systems are retiring. As they go, we lose not only the engineering knowledge gained from their decades of imagination and trial-and-error, but also the spirit that made that imagination possible.\nAmca is working day-in and day-out to restore America’s ability to engineer anything that our critical systems depend on, and reinvigorate the cycle of creation that allows imagination to shape physical reality. We rapidly develop and manufacture new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. By restoring the capability of our antiquated supply chains, we increase the country’s capacity to imagine and realize new systems, and make a physical world that looks very different from today.\nOverview:\nThe Supply Chain Engineering Intern works alongside our supply chain engineers on two parts of the job: making sure the hardware Amca sources externally is reliable, and delivering build-to-print customer contracts on schedule. You will own a scoped project, such as a supplier improvement effort, a defect investigation, or a piece of a build-to-print program, and see it through with support from the engineers closest to the hardware.\nAt Amca, ownership sits with the engineer closest to the hardware, because the person who understands a product is best positioned to execute on it. Interns get real responsibility and are expected to contribute to actual programs and suppliers. \nWe are looking for engineers with strong understanding of manufacturing and quality methods, a bias toward action, the ability to hold suppliers to requirements, and the judgment to make and keep commitments to customers.\nResponsibilities:\nProduct Ownership - Build-to-Print\nSupport build-to-print programs by breaking down customer technical data packages and contracts into requirements matrices (drawing notes, specifications, quality clauses, test, inspection, marking, packaging, and delivery)\nHelp build and track program schedules covering long-lead procurement, tooling, first article, qualification, and delivery, and flag risks to the schedule early and specifically\nNonconformance and Defect Resolution\nHelp resolve supplier-caused defects, including containment, disposition, return to vendor, and closure\nSupport material review and nonconformance processes with quality, engineering, and production\nAssist with supplier corrective and preventive action requests and verify that fixes are effective, not just that the form is closed\nSupport failure investigations and root cause analysis on dimensional, material, and process escapes\nSource Qualification and Supplier Development\nSupport supplier evaluation and onboarding, including capability assessments and quality system reviews, and visit suppliers onsite where appropriate\nAssist with first article inspection (AS9102) and production readiness for new and transitioning parts\nAnalysis, Risk, and Cross-Functional Work\nAnalyze supplier quality and delivery data to find systemic gaps and turn them into targeted supplier projects\nHelp identify supply chain risk such as single-source exposure, capacity constraints, long-lead items, and obsolescence\nWork with design, test, and build engineers to understand design intent and translate it into clear supplier requirements\nHelp develop the standards and documentation that make supplier quality and program execution repeatable as Amca scales\nBasic Qualifications\nCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in an engineering or STEM discipline\nDemonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, with working knowledge of GD&T from coursework, a project team, or prior experience\nHands-on exposure to manufacturing, quality, process, or supply chain engineering through coursework, a student project team, personal projects, or a prior internship\nExperience owning a project with a hard deadline, such as a project team deliverable, where you kept a schedule and worked with people who did not report to you\nComfortable communicating directly with suppliers and teammates on technical, quality, and schedule topics\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nPrior internship or project experience in quality, manufacturing, process, program, or supply chain engineering, ideally in aerospace, defense, or another regulated hardware industry\nProduct owner, technical program management, or new product introduction (NPI) experience in a hardware environment\nTechnical familiarity with one or more commodities, such as machined parts, avionics and PCBAs, or injection molding\nFamiliarity with AS9100 or a comparable quality management system, and with supplier quality processes such as first article inspection and supplier approval\nExperience managing schedules in a formal tool and reporting status to a team or leadership\nAdditional Requirements\nThis position is based in El Segundo, CA and is onsite five days a week. Remote work is not considered.\nAbility to travel up to 25% to supplier facilities, Amca factories, and customer sites\nWilling to work extended hours as needed to support production and resolve critical issues\nValid driver's license\nHourly Pay Range\n$30—$50 USD\nThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a US person as: any individual who is granted U.S. citizenship; or. any individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (\"Green Card\" holder); or. any individual who is granted status as a \"protected person\" under 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3).\nThe Advanced Manufacturing Company of America prohibits discrimination or harassment based on the following categories: race, color, religion, religious creed (including religious dress and grooming practices), national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical or mental disability, medical condition (including cancer and genetic characteristics), genetic information, marital status, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, or related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, age (40 years and over), sexual orientation, veteran and/or military status, protected medical leaves (requesting or approved for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act or the California Family Rights Act), domestic violence victim status, political affiliation, and any other status protected by state or federal law.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6834,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Supply Chain","Aerospace Manufacturing","Passive Components & Connectors","Defense Manufacturing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-16T01:33:12Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":28,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.51,"p_room":0.55,"age_days":24,"expected_fill_days":24,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:tail","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-24T06:02:35Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":100000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/amca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/amca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-24T15:01:31Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":21370,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-25T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3780360},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3780360"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Famca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Famca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Famca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/amca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Famca-supply-chain-engineering-intern-summer-2027"}]}
