This role is hands-on and leadership-focused, responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining safe, efficient maintenance practices. The Shift Lead Mechanic serves as the primary maintenance contact for the shift and provides technical direction to the maintenance team. This is a Night Shift Position.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintenance & Troubleshooting\nTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molding machines (hydraulic, electric, and hybrid).\nMaintain and repair auxiliary equipment including dryers, chillers, loaders, granulators, and mold temperature units.\nRespond quickly to equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on safety and production impact.\nDiagnose complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues.\nTroubleshoot heaters, thermocouples, sensors, PLC-related faults (basic), hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.\nSupport root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.\nLeadership & Work Coordination\nProvide hands-on technical guidance to maintenance technicians.\nAssign and prioritize maintenance work, including emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, and planned tasks.\nEnsure all work is completed safely and in accordance with quality and operational standards.\nCommunication & Documentation\nParticipate in daily maintenance and shift handoff meetings.\nCommunicate equipment status and maintenance priorities to production, quality, and technical teams.\nAccurately document all maintenance work in the CMMS, including failures, repairs, and parts used.\nSafety Responsibilities\nFollow and enforce all safety rules and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).\nPerform work in compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.\nPromote a strong safety-first culture and hold team members accountable for safe work practices.\nTeam Leadership & Development\nCoach, train, and mentor maintenance technicians.\nSupport skill development and consistent maintenance standards.\nEnsure accountability for workmanship, performance, and safety.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required (technical certification preferred).\nMinimum 5 years of manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.\n 2+ years of injection molding maintenance experience preferred.\nStrong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.\nProven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nPrior lead or supervisory experience preferred.\nPreferred Experience & Skills\nExperience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\nBasic PLC troubleshooting experience (no programming required).\nKnowledge of material handling systems, mold protection, and temperature control systems.\nFamiliarity with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys).\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work on machinery for extended periods.\nAbility to lift and carry tools or components up to 35 lbs.\nAbility to work in environments with heat, noise, and moving equipment.\nMust wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nWork Environment\nFast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.\nExposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations.\nMust be flexible to work assigned shift, overtime, or emergency call-ins as needed.\nOur Expectations\nWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
