Job Overview\nThe Slitter Operator supports in the operation of the entire slitting department. Slitter Operator can operate at least one of the slitting machines. The operator can load, set up the machines, and pack from a slitting machine. They can complete all testing and paperwork required for each position.\n2. Job Dimensions\nThe Slitter Operator slits large rolls down to smaller rolls in various dimensions according to customer standards.\nOperator appropriately understands and follows the plant’s EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and Quality systems to maintain a safe workplace and ensure quality product.\n3. Principal Accountabilities\nPerform set-up and operate slitting equipment to produce product according to quality and productivity requirements\nMaintain accurate documentation\nEnsures material meets customer requirements throughout the run\nAssumes responsibility for the quality and quantity produced on the machine\nObtains information from the computer, prints and applies labels\nPosts production information into the computer\nAccurately performs and records all required testing.\nProvide communication on a daily basis with management, maintenance, shift personnel, etc.\nMaintain housekeeping standards of slitter and the surrounding area\nPerform packing and material handling tasks as required\nCut cores as needed\nOperates Doctor Machine\nFollow all company safety rules and procedures\nAnticipates and reacts productively to changes, and willingly handles other tasks as assigned\nSeeks and implements improvement activities through teamwork and CI Process participation\nPerform other duties as assigned\n4. Qualifications/Requirements\n6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience\nKnowledge and Experience\nMinimum two years slitting experience preferred\nGeneral knowledge of computers preferred\nEducation and Certifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED\nFork Truck Certification preferred\n6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors\nJob Specific skills and abilities\nGood mechanical ability\nDemonstrate ability to work well under pressure\nAbility to use rulers, gauges and callipers\nAccurate math skills equivalent to high school level for measuring and counting product\nForklift certification or willingness and ability to learn and obtain certification\nAdequate visual acuity to discern extremely minor imperfections in products\nWorking knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to working with moving equipment\nSkilled in or able to learn safe operation of tools, equipment and test equipment associated with the slitting operations\nEffective communications and interpersonal skills to work as a team member in the finishing department as well as a specific slitter\nAbility to speak, read, and complete reports accurately in English\nAbility to work independently and make good decisions without constant supervision\nWell-developed work habits to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtime\nProficiency with computers; ability to learn and use additional programs\nAbility to distinguish differences between finished product and product specifications \nAbility to identify maintenance needs and ensure that all required preventive maintenance is performed\nAbility to manipulate cartons up to 50 lbs\nAbility to work in a standing position for long periods of time \nAbility to lift a 90+lbs. shaft/core combination with assistance from another employee and hoist system\nOther physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching when webbing machine\nOur Expectations\nWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
