Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuityand a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you’lldiscover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges-striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.Together, we advance your career.\nTHE ROLE:\nWe are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own the board-level mechanical aspects of design for AMD’s AI and HPC platforms. This role focuses on defining and integrating the mechanical features of complex, high-performance boards, ensuring they meet system requirements while remaining manufacturable and robust.\nYou will work closely with HW team and system mechanical engineering, thermal, and manufacturing teams to deliver optimize solution into AMD platform.\nTHE PERSON:\nWider board and system design knowledge for AI server solution and review experience. Your engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nReview board level and system level design to identify any potential system issue and drive resolution. Perform case study or/and FA and provide issue resolution recommendation.\nReview mechanical parts SPEC and 2D drawings.\nWork with system engineers and review cable design.\nOwn the mechanical definition of complex PCB designs, including board outline, mounting scheme, connector and component placement constraints, and keep-out requirements.\nWork closely with system mechanical engineers to ensure alignment between board design and system-level integration.\nPartner with thermal engineering to support cooling solutions, including placement and mechanical integration of heat sinks, cold plates, and related mounting structures.\nCollaborate with electrical design teams to co-develop layouts that balance mechanical constraints with routing and packaging needs, including connector placement and board topology.\nEngage with fabrication, assembly, and reliability teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet mechanical and reliability requirements.\nSupport bring-up and validation by helping diagnose and resolve mechanical integration or reliability issues observed in prototypes or production.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\nMust have at least 7~12 years of comparable experience doing server PCB design or high-density board PCB design\nExperience with mechanical design of electronic assemblies, including PCB-based systems or similar high-density hardware.\nStrong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including structural support, tolerance definition, and component integration.\nExperience with CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, or similar) for design and layout of mechanical features.\nPerforms finite element (FE) simulations and related testing from concept evaluations to design functional verifications (when needed).\nAbility to work effectively across disciplines, including electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and reliability teams.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work through complex cross-functional constraints.\nStrong knowledge of Solid Mechanics and Strength of Materials\nWider experience in static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis. \nExperience in testing and failure modeling of different classes of materials\nExperience in cold plate and TIM tolerance review.\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services. AMD and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity, inclusive employers and will consider all applicants without regard to age, ancestry, color, marital status, medical condition, mental or physical disability, national origin, race, religion, political and/or third-party affiliation, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates and will accommodate applicants’ needs under the respective laws throughout all stages of the recruitment and selection process.\nAMD may use Artificial Intelligence to help screen, assess or select applicants for this position.
