ADVANCE THE WORLD.\nAt AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.\nWhether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.\nTHE ROLE:\nAMD’s Cores Organization delivers industry-leading CPUs, Caches, and Chiplets that are the foundation of AMD’s server, client, and gaming business. We are looking for an experienced Director of Silicon Design Engineering to provide technical and organizational leadership for advanced CPU/core silicon engineering, with responsibility spanning silicon development, validation, post-silicon execution, debug, infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering coordination. Work closely with RTL, Design Verification, Physical Design, DFT, validation, diagnostics, and other engineering organizations to coordinate technical execution and drive cross-functional decisions. The candidate will join the leadership team based in Fort Collins, CO.\nTHE PERSON:\nThe candidate is a proven leader of leaders with a track record of delivering complex, high-performance cache or CPU designs to production silicon on aggressive schedules. They connect pre-silicon design and verification activities with post-silicon execution, ensuring that technical issues, engineering risks, schedules, methodologies, and silicon readiness are understood and driven to closure across multiple engineering disciplines. We are pushing the envelope on every program, so the status quo must be challenged continuously. This environment requires creativity, innovation, sound judgment, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with engineers, architects, partner organizations, and senior executives alike. The candidate is passionate about building high-performing teams: hiring top talent, developing managers and senior technical leaders, and creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability. Our team delivers critical designs for multiple AMD products and is growing in both capability and size, so the candidate must be able to scale the organization while keeping execution sharp.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nProvide technical leadership across complex silicon design, validation, debug, and bring-up activities.\nDrive resolution of cross-functional technical issues spanning RTL, DV, physical design, DFT, diagnostics, and silicon validation.\nMaintain visibility into silicon readiness, engineering risks, execution dependencies, and issues requiring management attention.\nParticipate in major program and methodology decisions affecting current and future CPU/core development\nProvide leadership for post-silicon test, diagnostics, debug, and validation strategy.\nEnsure engineering teams have the infrastructure, test capability, and technical coordination needed to efficiently identify, isolate, and resolve silicon issues.\nCommunicate post-silicon operational status, priorities, risks, and execution needs to senior leadership.\nRepresent silicon engineering priorities in leadership forums.\nCoordinate technical planning and decision-making across current and future product generations.\nBalance immediate execution requirements against investments in methodology, automation, infrastructure, and longer-term engineering capability.\nEvaluate staffing needs against program execution requirements and technical capability gaps.\nRecruit and retain senior engineering talent for highly specialized silicon engineering roles.\nDevelop technical leadership capacity within the engineering organization.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nExtensive experience in CPU, SoC, or advanced semiconductor development.\nDeep knowledge of silicon design, validation, bring-up, diagnostics, and debug.\nDemonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nExperience managing execution across multiple silicon/product generations.\nStrong knowledge of RTL design, verification, silicon validation, test, and debug methodologies.\nTrack record of developing senior engineers and technical leaders.\nExperience recruiting highly specialized engineering talent.\nAbility to communicate complex silicon issues effectively from individual-contributors through executive audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly with executives and to collaborate effectively with a diverse team across disciplines and geographies\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nBS/MS/PhD in EE, CS, CSE (or similar), plus multiple years hardware design experience, including people leadership experience\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\n#LI-TB1\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services. AMD and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity, inclusive employers and will consider all applicants without regard to age, ancestry, color, marital status, medical condition, mental or physical disability, national origin, race, religion, political and/or third-party affiliation, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates and will accommodate applicants’ needs under the respective laws throughout all stages of the recruitment and selection process.\nAMD may use Artificial Intelligence to help screen, assess or select applicants for this position. AMD’s “Responsible AI Policy” is available here.\n\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\nTHE ROLE:\nAMD’s Cores Organization delivers industry-leading CPUs, Caches, and Chiplets that are the foundation of AMD’s server, client, and gaming business.
