AMD

AMD is an American semiconductor company founded in 1969 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, that designs processors, graphics chips and adaptive computing hardware without owning fabrication plants. Its Ryzen and Threadripper processors and Radeon graphics serve consumers and creators, EPYC server chips have taken a large share of the data centre market from Intel, and the Instinct accelerators compete for AI training and inference workloads. The 2022 acquisition of Xilinx added field-programmable gate arrays and adaptive systems on chip, and the company also supplies the custom silicon inside the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and lead sourcing strategy across semiconductor and hardware NPI programs to align supply chain capability with product roadmaps, engineering priorities, and business objectives.
  • Own the supply chain architecture for critical technologies and components, including approved vendor strategy, dual sourcing, lifecycle planning, capacity alignment, and long-term resiliency.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and Program teams to drive sourcing decisions that support cost, quality, schedule, and ramp objectives.
  • Influence product and technology decisions through sourcing intelligence, including market dynamics, supplier capability, lead-time trends, lifecycle and obsolescence exposure, and total cost considerations.
  • Drive executive-level risk identification and mitigation across the NPI lifecycle, anticipating single points of failure, capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, and supplier readiness gaps before they impact program execution.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships for semiconductor, electronics, mechanical, and custom technologies to ensure capability, quality, innovation, and continuity of supply.
  • Provide leadership across supplier selection, commercial strategy, qualification, and readiness for EVT, DVT, PVT, line validation, and volume production.
  • Champion make-versus-buy, outsource versus insource, and strategic sourcing decisions by balancing technical needs, supply continuity, gross margin goals, and long-term business value.
  • Lead organizational alignment and escalation management on critical supply challenges, ensuring timely decisions and clear accountability across internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Influence AMD OSAT design and material selection across business units to consolidate supplier spends.
  • Representing AMD Commodity Sourcing in industry consortiums to influence supply chain robustness and gather market intelligence.

  • Experience leading sourcing strategy for semiconductors, PCBA, interconnect, thermal, mechanical, or custom engineered components across global supply bases.
  • Knowledge of NPI stage gates, including EVT, DVT, PVT, and manufacturing ramp readiness requirements.
  • Familiarity with supplier quality systems, engineering change management, product lifecycle risk, capacity planning, and supply continuity planning in constrained markets.
  • Experience building governance models, executive review mechanisms, and strategic supplier engagement plans that support long-term growth and resilience.
