ADVANCE THE WORLD.\nAt AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.\nAMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward.\nPrincipal GPU Software Architect\nTHE ROLE\nYou will serve as a cross-functional technical leader in driving agentically-assisted software development teams that design, implement, validate, and deliver critical capabilities across the software lifecycle. This role focuses on aligning roadmaps, reviewing technical approaches, identifying delivery risks, and establishing practices that improve performance, quality, and execution consistency. Success requires strong systems engineering judgment, practical experience maturing software teams, and the ability to turn technical knowledge into durable processes, documentation, and self-service resources.\nTHE PERSON\nThe ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, cross-functional environments where technical depth, structured thinking, and influence are required to move teams forward. They are comfortable working across organizational boundaries, translating complex engineering challenges into clear priorities, practical plans, and durable operating models. They bring a continuous-improvement mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to coach teams while establishing the processes, documentation, and governance needed to scale execution. They are most effective when helping others succeed through clarity, collaboration, and disciplined technical leadership.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEstablish collaborative processes across libraries teams to design, implement, validate, and deliver key software library capabilities, ensuring successful integration into broader systems. Establishes, validates, and updates the software roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders. \nLeads the collaborative engineering scoping of new architectures, design adaptations, and creates documentation efforts as they arise across teams. Establishes strategies and programs that provide technical governance for these efforts across engineering teams.\nDrive and assist in reviewing technical designs and proposed engineering approaches of the technical staff. Ensure that plans holistically consider constraints, performance, and roadmap commitments. Conduct research to explore new technologies and methodologies that can improve software performance and organizational efficiency. Propose innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of software teams in agentic-assisted software development workflows.\nUse organizational sensing techniques to identify plans at risk and develop strategies to uplift teams when required. Provide support and guidance to technical staff in the execution of these strategies. Identify, capture, and transform tacit knowledge into self-service and digital forms. \nA key owner of the strategies supporting engineering best practices, accountable for the adoption of these practices by technical teams in collaboration with program and product stakeholders. Participates in the hiring and identification of key engineering talent; a trusted partner of technical managers.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nNotable applied experience using systems engineering skills to accelerate and improve technical delivery, employing continuous improvement of the software lifecycle, including build robustness, regression and performance management, software deployment, operations, and orchestration management.\nDemonstrated success in a leadership role driving cross-functional contributions to inner-or-open source software development projects and driving the maturity of teams using various methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban. Direct experience driving the maturity of organizations and software development teams through best practices, technical governance, and coaching and mentoring frameworks. \nDemonstrated ability to independently conduct, direct, and mentor teams to perform structured research, produce relevant executive and peer-reviewed technical and summary documents. Hands on experience with driving the conversion of knowledge from tacit to institutional artifacts, with success stories from peers and colleagues. \nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nAdvanced degrees, such as M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D. are preferred\n#LI-ONSITE\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services. AMD and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity, inclusive employers and will consider all applicants without regard to age, ancestry, color, marital status, medical condition, mental or physical disability, national origin, race, religion, political and/or third-party affiliation, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates and will accommodate applicants’ needs under the respective laws throughout all stages of the recruitment and selection process.\nAMD may use Artificial Intelligence to help screen, assess or select applicants for this position.
