From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMDis shapingthefuture.\nWhetheryou’redesigning next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, orbringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger- technologythat moves the world forward.Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.\nTHE ROLE\n\n:\n\nAMD is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Agentic AI to rapidly build and prove new AI software opportunities, and to help our organization stay at the leading edge of agentic software development.\nTHE PERSON\n\nAn AI-native builder and broad generalist who ships fast by directing AI agents, understands hardware, and works well with partners in ambiguous, fast-moving settings.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n:\n\nRapidly build prototypes and proofs of concept using agentic development workflows.\n\nOptimize prototypes on AMD platforms, going down the stack when needed.\n\nWork directly with partner engineering teams on joint technical work.\n\nBuild and share agentic tools and workflows across the organization.\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE\n\n:\n\nBroad experience shipping software across products, domains and layers of the stack.\n\nDeep, current, hands-on fluency with AI coding agents and agentic workflows.\n\nHardware understanding from system level toward the metal: how CPU, GPU and NPU architecture, memory, power and thermals shape software, with the ability to go deeper when performance demands it.\n\nStrong programming skills and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks and inference.\n\nBonus: open source; graphics, gaming or client platform experience.\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\n\nBachelor’s, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent\n\nLOCATION:\n\nAustin, TX, Bellevue or Seattle, WA, Santa Clara, CA within a commutable distance to other AMD offices.\n\nTHIS ROLE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR VISA SPONSORSHIP.\n\n#LI-AG1\n\nBenefits offered are described: \n\nAMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
