This attorney will serve as a practical, business-oriented legal partner to DSG’s engineering, product, and business development teams in support of AMD’s datacenter related products (including datacenter CPUs, GPU accelerators, network solutions, and related software, and tools). The role will advise on product development and commercialization, structure and negotiate complex technology, licensing, supply, collaboration, and customer agreements, counsel on intellectual property, open-source software, compliance, and contractual risk, and help resolve disputes and other issues affecting DSG’s datacenter hardware, software, and solutions.\nThis role can be located in Austin or San Jose.\nTHE PERSON:\nAbility to work with clients at all levels to achieve a common goal while taking into consideration both legal and business issues.\nSelf-starter who can work independently and as a team.\nUnderstands when it is appropriate to escalate issues.\nMakes sound judgments and recommendations.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable using “plain English” to explain complex legal concepts.\nAbility to multitask and prioritize workload and competing priorities.\nEfficient, effective, well organized, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects. \nIntellectual curiosity and a desire to support complex software and hardware products - enjoys learning about cutting-edge technology.\nCreative problem-solver with a practical, collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nServe as a trusted legal advisor to DSG engineering, product, sales, marketing, and business development teams, providing practical guidance that balances legal risk with business and technical objectives.\nDraft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and technology agreements relating to DSG products and solutions, including customer, supply, licensing, development, evaluation, services, and strategic collaboration agreements.\nAdvise on product development and commercialization matters involving intellectual property, software and data rights, open-source software, confidentiality, warranties, compliance, risk allocation, and dispute resolution.\nLead and coordinate negotiations with internal stakeholders across engineering, sales, finance, operations, compliance, and other functions, and escalate significant legal or business risks as appropriate.\nSupport strategic customer and partner engagements involving datacenter CPUs, GPU accelerators, networking solutions, software, tools, and integrated systems.\nHelp prevent and resolve contractual, product, and commercial disputes, and advise clients on interpretation of existing agreements and available remedies.\nDevelop templates, playbooks, guidance, and training that improve contracting efficiency, promote consistent legal positions, and support compliance with company policies.\nMonitor emerging legal and regulatory issues affecting datacenter, AI, semiconductor, hardware, and software products, and translate those developments into practical guidance for the business.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nDemonstrated experience as a practicing attorney, with both law firm and in-house experience preferred.\nExperience in commercial transactions, intellectual property law.\nExperience in the computing or semiconductor industry is a plus.\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nA JD degree and admission to practice law in a U.S. state. \nLOCATION:\nSan Jose OR Austin \nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
