ADVANCE THE WORLD.\nAt AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.\nWhether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.\nTHE ROLE\nYou will be joining the Platform Firmware Quality Verification (PFQV) team. You will be a hands-on Technical Engineer within the platform firmware organization, responsible for end-to-end ownership and delivery of critical firmware verification work. This role is designed for an experienced developer who brings technical depth and strong execution, while remaining a strong individual contributor.\nWorking closely with cross-functional firmware engineering teams and program partners, you will engage in all aspects of verification, with a focus on developing methodologies that drive improvements during the pre-silicon phase of SoC development.\nThe ideal candidate brings a strong verification engineering background and a passion for quality assurance, with clear ownership for outcomes-including quality, schedule, and technical direction for assigned tasks and deliverables. Effective communication and seamless integration within the team-both internally and with cross-functional partners-will be essential for success.\nTHE PERSON\nYou are a technically strong, self-driven engineer who takes ownership when ambiguity arises. You excel at solving complex problems, working effectively across teams, and enabling solid execution. You contribute through high-quality design, clean and maintainable code, clear communication, and consistent follow-through.\nYou are comfortable collaborating across functions, balancing deep technical understanding with practical decision-making, and holding yourself accountable for results. Passionate about software quality, you bring creative, effective problem-solving skills and thrive both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments. You proactively take initiative and work effectively with cross-functional teams.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nOwn the end-to-end delivery of firmware verification work for features or projects, from scoping and design through implementation, validation, and release, ensuring correctness, robustness, and long-term maintainability.\nDrive implementation and validation tasks, and contribute to design specifications and technical proposals, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including firmware teams, simulation/virtual team, design verification team, and driver teams.\nDebug and resolve complex, cross-component issues in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments to unblock execution and ensure high-quality delivery.\nPartner with program managers, architects, validation, and other firmware teams to identify dependencies, risks, and execution gaps, and proactively track progress to ensure alignment across stakeholders.\nSurface issues early and drive them to closure, while balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term technical health.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE\nExperience in firmware verification with solid pre-silicon and post-silicon functional verification understanding, with clear ownership and accountability for assigned deliverables.\n\nExtensive full verification lifecycle experience (design, implementation, debugging, validation, sustainment) with excellent analytical/troubleshooting skills, strong debug capability, and effective issue management.\n\nOutstanding communication and collaboration (written/verbal/interpersonal) and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams including firmware, simulation/virtual, design verification, and driver teams.\n\nExpert in firmware QA concepts, best practices, and procedures; maintains vigilance for improving validation processes, applications, and methodologies.\n\nDevelop verification requirements, test plans, and test cases with firmware engineering and verification teams; experienced in creating and reviewing requirements and test plans.\n\nConduct functional, regression, and performance testing to validate firmware functionality and stability.\n\nComfortable with scripting (e.g., Python, Windows PowerShell, Java) and experienced with Jenkins server operation and pipeline scripting.\n\nExperience in VM management and simulation/emulation environments; proficient with Jama, GitHub, and Jira.\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS\nBachelor’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant fields\n\nEMPLOYMENT DURATION:\n12 months Fixed Term Contract with an opportunity to be extended or converted into a permanent - indefinite employment\n#LI-CY1\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
