Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.\n THE ROLE:\nThe Datacenter Hardware Lab Team is seeking a highly motivated Hardware Design Verification Engineering Intern/Co-op to support the testing, validation, and debugging of AMD’s next-generation AI, Machine Learning, and High-Performance Computing products. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working with GPU and CPU platforms, system-level hardware and software, validation tools, and emerging technologies prior to mass production. You will collaborate with experienced engineers across multiple teams to build test environments, execute validation, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to improvements in AMD’s validation capabilities.\nTHE PERSON:\nYou are a curious and hands-on engineering student who enjoys solving complex hardware and software problems. You are comfortable working in a lab environment, learning new technologies, and collaborating across engineering teams. You have strong analytical and debugging skills and are interested in gaining practical experience with system-level testing, hardware bring-up, validation, and automation.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nSupport the development and execution of verification and validation test plans, test cases, and models.\nBuild test platforms and perform system-level hardware and software testing.\nSupport system bring-up, validation, debugging, and production-related activities for GPU and CPU platforms.\nPerform low-level testing of hardware and software features, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with root-cause analysis.\nDevelop and maintain scripts and automation tools using Python, Perl, Shell, or similar languages to support validation and compute resource management.\nSupport regression testing and help improve test flows, tools, methodologies, and overall validation efficiency.\nDebug and improve test cases, models, and Verilog/SystemVerilog code as applicable.\nWork with cross-functional engineering teams to track test execution and ensure features are validated and optimized on schedule.\nSupport production validation of integrated hardware and software functionality to help ensure product readiness.\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nProgramming and scripting experience with C, C++, Python, Perl, Shell, Ruby, or similar languages.\nExposure to Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, or other hardware verification methodologies.\nUnderstanding of digital systems, computer architecture, computer organization, and system-level hardware/software design.\nKnowledge of logic design fundamentals, including FSMs, gates, registers, flip-flops, timing, and HDL.\nExperience building or configuring computer systems, including operating systems, drivers, graphics cards, and basic networking.\nFamiliarity with CPU, APU, and/or GPU architectures and platforms.\nExperience developing or debugging in Linux, Unix, and/or Windows environments.\nExperience with board- or platform-level bring-up, validation, debugging, power sequencing, analysis, and optimization.\nFamiliarity with common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, voltmeters, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.\nUnderstanding of hardware/software interaction, validation methodologies, system architecture, and root-cause debugging.\nKnowledge of analog and digital transistor device behavior is a plus.\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nBachelors or Masters degree in system/electrical or computer engineering \nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
