Join us and, together, we'll advance your career.\n\nSOFTWARE ENGINEER - Developer & Build Experience (Gradle, C/C++)\n\nThe Role\n\nAMD is looking for a Senior Lead Engineer to strengthen our Developer Experience and Build Engineering function. In this role, you will own and evolve our Gradle-based build infrastructure, lead the adoption of third-party upgrades, and mentor engineers across the organization. You will be a key technical leader driving the productivity, reliability, and maintainability of our software delivery pipeline for large-scale C/C++ codebases. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.\n\nThe Person\n\nThe ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nWork with AMD's architecture specialists to improve future products and Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts \nBuild & Developer Experience: Design, maintain, and continuously improve our Gradle build systems to deliver fast, reliable, and scalable builds that maximize developer productivity across C/C++ projects\nLead the evaluation, planning, and execution of third-party library, framework, and toolchain upgrades—ensuring compatibility, stability, and timely remediation of security vulnerabilities.\nMentorship: Mentor and coach engineers, sharing best practices in C/C++ development, build engineering, and dependency management. Elevate the technical skills of the broader team.\nTechnical Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams to define standards, resolve complex build and integration issues, and drive engineering excellence.\nStrong programming experience with C/C++, including a deep understanding of memory management, performance optimization, and systems-level development in large-scale codebases.\nAutomation & Tooling: Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce friction in the development lifecycle.\nExtensive hands-on experience with Gradle (build authoring, custom plugins, dependency management, build performance tuning), including native/C++ build integration.\nProven track record of managing third-party dependency and toolchain upgrades in large-scale codebases, including handling breaking changes and security patches.\nSolid understanding of compilers, linkers, and build toolchains (e.g., GCC, Clang).\n\nPreferred Experience\n\nStrong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred with 12+yrs of professional handson coding experience\nAbility to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail \nExperience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs \nExperience with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development  \nExperience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus \nEffective communication and problem-solving skills \nMotivating leader with good interpersonal skills\n\nAcademic Credentials\n\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent\n\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
