The Engineer may function as the Applied Multiphysics lead on small projects, working with other engineers & designer/drafters.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nProjects are often complex and multi-discipline. For the majority of assignments, Mid-level Engineers will be issued specific objectives, approaches, and possible solutions by a supervising engineer. The Mid-level Engineer:\nIndependently performs project assignments that involve few complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline.\nAnalyzes and/or evaluates the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors.\nAccomplishes, complete tasks of limited scope or solves problems which require investigation of a limited number of variables.\nPrepares technical reports, presentations, and calculations.\nCoordinates the work of designer/drafters or junior engineers.\nMay formally reviews the work of others for techniques and technical approach, if in area of specific technical expertise.\nSupports interface development with other disciplines, working closely with structural, mechanical process, controls and instrumentation, and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.\nProduces complete design packages, including detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications, as required.\nMinimum Experience/Education:\nB.S.M.E. from an accredited engineering school\nMinimum of Seven (7) years’ relevant Machine Design experience (see “Adjacent Industries” below)\nKey Skills:\nDemonstrated knowledge and experience with design of ground test facilities involving extremes in temperature, heat transfer, pressure, and mechanical dynamics.\nStrong mechanical engineering analytical skills - kinematics, dynamics, stress/strain, power transmission, etc.\nFEA - static stress-strain, natural frequency\nPreferred Qualifications:\nDesign for small-scale fabrication & manufacturing (milling, turning, welding, laser-cutting, forming, etc.)\nFEA - thermal, non-linear, forced mode dynamics and multi-physics analysis, Ansys preferred\nDesign experience with ASME B&PV Section VII, Div I & Div II\nDesign for assembly & installation\nDemonstrated experience and expertise in employing GD&T/ASTM Y14.5 in detailed design drawings; understanding of tolerance, fits, and stack-up analysis\nScope/Schedule/Budget management\n3D CAD experience, Inventor or SolidWorks preferred\nDesign for fiber-composites manufacturing (fiberglass, carbon fiber)\nFluid Power - employing pneumatic/hydraulic cylinders, valve stand design, P&IDs, etc.\nBasic experience with machine instrumentation (proximity sensors, vision sensors, strain gauges, scales, etc.)\nInstallation Support and Supervision - guiding and answering suppliers, sub-contractors and other trades questions from the office and on-site\nAdjacent Industries\nAerospace & Defense Mechanical Design\nMachine Design\nFactory Automation (material handling, web handling, process automation, etc.)\nFluid Power (Hydraulics/Pnumatics)\nCompensation Details:\n$108,000 - $126,500The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
