This is a hands-on field leadership role covering the full scope of project quality. The manager will ensure contract and technical requirements are translated into usable procedures and flowed down into work packages before work begins.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, construction, operations, procurement, subcontractors, and safety personnel. They must be comfortable reviewing documents, walking the site, resolving field issues, and verifying that work is performed and documented in accordance with approved requirements. Safety is critical to every aspect of this role.\nLocation: Lead, South Dakota\nWork Arrangement: Full-time, onsite and field-based\nKey Responsibilities\nImplement and maintain the project QA/QC program in accordance with contract requirements, approved plans, procedures, and applicable federal requirements.\nReview contract documents, specifications, drawings, and quality requirements; confirm that applicable requirements flow down into work packages, purchase orders, and subcontracts.\nVerify that work packages contain the appropriate procedures, acceptance criteria, inspection points, hold points, records, and approval requirements before field execution.\nDevelop, review, and maintain contract-specific quality procedures and processes that are practical for field use.\nCoordinate inspections, surveillance, audits, and quality reviews across site activities.\nWork with field teams to identify and resolve quality issues promptly, including nonconformances, corrective actions, and lessons learned.\nVerify that materials, equipment, subcontracted work, and completed activities meet applicable requirements and have adequate supporting documentation.\nMaintain accurate, complete, and retrievable quality records and provide clear reporting to project leadership and the federal client.\nParticipate in planning meetings, pre-job briefs, field walkdowns, and work package reviews.\nPartner with site safety leadership to ensure quality activities support safe work planning and execution. Raise concerns and exercise stop-work authority when conditions warrant.\nRequired Qualifications\nSignificant experience implementing or managing QA/QC programs on large, complex field projects.\nExperience interpreting contract requirements and incorporating them into procedures, work packages, inspection plans, and subcontractor requirements.\nStrong knowledge of document control, inspections, nonconformance management, corrective action, and quality records.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively with field crews, technical staff, subcontractors, and project leadership.\nStrong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear procedures and defensible quality documentation.\nWillingness and ability to work onsite and regularly access active mining and construction areas, subject to site requirements.\nMinimum 20 years of experience required with a two year degree minimum.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience on federal projects or at mining, remediation, heavy civil, industrial, or environmental sites.\nExperience leading quality program startup or improving an existing program during active field work.\nFamiliarity with applicable federal contract quality requirements and recognized quality management standards.\nRelevant degree, quality certification, or equivalent combination of education and field experience.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nQuality requirements are clear before work starts, procedures and work packages reflect the contract, field personnel understand the applicable controls, and completed work is supported by reliable records. The manager is visible in the field, addresses issues early, and helps the project deliver compliant work safely.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
