Join ASEG on the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract and be part of a team that is making history.\nThe Control Systems Engineer will:\nOperate, maintain and troubleshoot existing test control systems.\nPerform setup and modification of existing test control systems.\nSpecify and tune feedback control loop algorithms for optimum performance.\nDesign and implement new test control systems.\nCoordinate transducer and actuator installation, writing technical procedures to be performed by technicians.\nJob Duties will include:\nCoordination with NASA customers across organizations to ensure mission success.\nWork with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design, develop, set up, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware, and other mission critical hardware.\nParticipate in Beyond Zero Safety Culture, attend safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements.\nDevelop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements.\nPerform safety and certification training to support ESSCA and customer requirements.\nBS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics with at least 2 years of experience in control systems is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 4 years of experience; Masters with at least 8 years of experience, or a BS with at least 10 years of experience.\nThe ideal candidate will be an Engineer with a strong sampling of the following skills and a desire to learn in depth:\nExcellent verbal and writing skills.\nExperience with hydraulic and pneumatic fluid control systems, valves and actuators for automated control of position, force, pressure and velocity.\nExperience with electric motor control systems, Variable Frequency Drives or servo-motors.\nExperience with embedded systems and microcontrollers such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, cRIO or similar.\nExperience with communication protocols such as ethercat, profinet, RS-232, RS485, CAN, I2C, SPI\nExperience with data acquisition hardware such as cDAQ, PXI, HBK, Dewetron, Dewesoft, Gantner or similar hardware.\nKnowledge of basic instrumentation applications - utilizing strain gauges, load cells, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and displacement sensors.\nDesire to conduct detailed hands-on work in a Lab testing environment on sub scale models to full scale structures in some of NASA’s largest indoor and outdoor test facilities.\nEssential Functions:\nWork Environment:\nGeneral office environment (100%). Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (\nPhysical Requirements:\nRequires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Amentum facilities (10%).\nEquipment and Machines:\nRequires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).\nAttendance:\nNormal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
