The Cook will be responsible for providing day-to-day support under the culinary areas of operations in banquet/ buffet style presentation. The facilities for Culinary are operating from 05:00 to 19:00 five to seven days a week and have competency for the following:\nResponsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.\nComply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.\nComply and follow US Public Health Service, Food and Drug Administration, 2009 Food Code and revisions.\nComply with all site policies and procedures.\nFollow instructions to detail for the task at hand by the Executive Chef.\nPrepare and follow recipes predetermined for the weekly menu.\nPrepare, assemble, cook, and serve ingredients for menu items.\nCollaborate with Executive Chef and other cooks to prepare meals during dining hours.\nProvide feedback to the Executive Chef daily in verbal or written communication.\nStock, rotate, and maintain all food inventories for accuracy\nProperly store food items at appropriate temperatures per health code\nPrepare, clean, and restock dinning and kitchen areas for subsequent shifts by the end of your shift.\nPerform jobs/tasks in an outside unconditioned environment at times(rare), while working in the hot and humid weather.\nOccasionally set up and serve breakfasts, brunches, and evenings dinners in non-typical dining areas.\nWork with the O&M supervisor for any equipment failures and facility failure.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nAbility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.\nH.S. diploma or equivalent.\n2+ yrs. experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry with banquet/ buffet style cooking.\nProvide applicable certifications.\nAble to read, follow, and execute standardized recipes.\nStrong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.\nAble to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.\nCurrently have Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification or equivalent.\nComputer literacy to navigate online required training, time keeping, and email. \nA valid Driver's license form applicant's home state is required.\nAdditional Duties:\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.\nBeing fit for duty.\nAbility to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly or as needed performing various assigned task.\nAbility to do the following for extended periods of time: stoop, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and carry.\nAbility to stand 8-10 hrs. per day.\nAbility of a flexible schedule to be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and at times most holidays.\nAbility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and have flexibility to move from one task to the next or work multiple tasks simultaneously.\nBe able to work in a team environment.\nBe a problem solver or solution maker.\nReasoning ability. \nCan define problems and collect data while establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.\nGood customer service skills.\nSelf-starter and motivated to perform at high level.\nService Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:\nThis is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
