The Deputy Chief of Engineering is responsible for the leadership, management, coordination and oversight of approximately 30 personnel this includes the strategic level planning, organization, coordination, development, training, mentoring, and resource and performance management relevant to the service delivery of the Engineering team.\nThe Deputy Chief of Engineering supports the achievement of corporate and program goals, participates in business development, and develops creative solutions to address complex client requirements.\nREPORTING RELATIONSHIPS\nThe Deputy Engineering Manager reports to the Engineering Manager for day-to-day direction, performance management and strategic alignment\nThe Deputy Engineering Manager collaborates closely with the Integration and Project & Construction teams to coordinate engineering priorities, schedules and deliverables.\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nAs the Deputy Engineering Manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nLead and manage the Engineering team\nProvide leadership, management and vision to enable the delivery of consistently high-quality results that meet Statement of Work requirements and strategically focus the Engineering team.\nFacilitate the design and/or development of solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across a broad array of engineering disciplines.\nEnsure the appropriate and timely application of relevant expertise in the review and provision of technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and systems, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.\nLead and oversee the development and implementation of appropriate and effective systems and processes in support of integration, configuration and engineering service delivery.\nCommunicate technical recommendations, input, direction and advice on facilities system, infrastructure and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life-cycle management and costing.\nBuild and maintain close and direct liaison with relevant Government Points of Contact to ensure customer requirements remain well understood and satisfied.\nDeliver corporate and program goals, participate in business development, and develop creative solutions to address complex client requirements\nMaintain health and safety within the workplace by promoting safety awareness initiatives, discussions and trainings, encouraging a safety focused culture and participating and reviewing risk assessments for those under their supervision.\nAny other reasonable duties as requested\nADDITIONAL DUTIES\nN/A\nWORKING RELATIONSHIPS\nTeam Members: Provides day-to-day leadership, guidance and mentorship to support team performance and development\nProgram Management: Collaborates with program leadership to align engineering activities with operational priorities, contractual requirements and program objectives\nCustomers: Maintain effective working relationships with customers to understand requirements, address technical concerns and ensure engineering services meet customer expectations\nExternal Stakeholders: Coordinates with contractors, vendors and other external parties to support engineering activities resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with applicable standards\nEXPERIENCE\nRequired:\nMinimum of 7 years’ experience with facility related programs of a similar size, scope and complexity\nMinimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Project Manager responsible for supervising project managers, engineers and sub-contractors\nDemonstrated experience managing a multi-million-dollar project portfolio in remote locations, and balancing resources while maintaining cost and schedules\nDemonstrated experience working in a 24x7 operational environment requiring close coordination with mission operations\nDemonstrated experience in timely proposal preparation and cost estimation\nDesired:\nDemonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a complex operational environment\nExperience managing engineering activities within a Government or defence contracting environment\nExperience with asset management and infrastructure maintenance to support operational reliability and long-term asset performance\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequired:\nA bachelor’s degree in engineering from a nationally accredited university\nField: Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls\nDesired:\nRegistered Professional Engineer or Architect\nCourse work or experience related to power engineering field, theory in motors, generators or knowledge of industrial controls systems\nTICKETS AND LICENSES\nRequired: Drivers methods\nExperience mentoring and developing supervisors or emerging leaders\nWORKING ENVIRONMENT\nThis position operates within a combination of office-based settings and active industrial and construction areas, subject to temperature extremes and safety protocols.\nThis includes exposure to power generation facilities, heavy industrial equipment, active construction zones, hazardous substances and ongoing maintenance and infrastructure development.\nThe facility operates on a 24/7 365-day schedule and the role occasionally response outside normal working hours\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nIt is a condition of employment that the employee maintains adequate medical clearance applicable to this role.\nThis role requires the ability to sit for extended periods and undertake regular site inspections involving walking, standing and climbing stairs or ladders.
