{"id":2897680,"url":"https://alion.io/job/amentum-dockmaster","title":"Dockmaster","company":{"id":14861,"name":"Amentum","domain":"amentum.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/amentum","size_band":"5000+","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Workday","truth_index":null},"role":"Customer Success","role_family":"Customer Success","seniority":"middle","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["United Kingdom","Kenya","Mauritius","Seychelles","Philippines"],"countries":["GB","KE","MU","SC","PH"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":33000,"max_usd":87000,"period":"year","method":"global_role_cell_scaled_by_country","sample_n":1081},"experience_years_min":3,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-08-19T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-08-19","last_verified_at":"2026-10-22T10:04:29Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":64,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":64},"description":"Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Dockmaster to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.\nThe Dockmaster will oversee and manage all operations related to the Syncrolift and transfer systems, ensuring the safe and effective execution of dry docking and undocking evolutions.\nJob Responsibilities:\nLeading all operations of the Syncrolift and transfer system in compliance with DGLOCALCOORDINST 3170.1 (Series).\nDeveloping, preparing, and submitting Dry Docking/Undocking Plans and Safety Procedures for approval prior to dry docking or undocking activities, as required by the Port Operations Officer.\nEnsuring safe and efficient management of all aspects of dry docking operations, incorporating relevant shipyard experience into Syncrolift procedures and operations.\nSupervising and coordinating dry docking and undocking evolutions, ensuring safety and operational compliance throughout the process.\nRemaining available, or ensuring an approved designated alternate is available, on-island at all times to support dry docking operations.\nEnsuring compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental standards during all Syncrolift and dry docking tasks.\nManaging, training, and overseeing a team of personnel responsible for assisting in Syncrolift operations, ensuring team members follow established protocols.\nWorking directly with the Port Operations Officer to adhere to operational schedules and safety guidelines.\nMaintaining accurate records and logs that document operational data and safety compliance.\nProviding training to the designated alternate and staff for proficient operations of the Syncrolift system.\nRequired Qualifications\nEmployees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.\nPassport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.\nAbility to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.\nAbility to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.\nMinimum of three (3) years of experience in shipyard operations, with comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of dry docking.\nHands-on experience and technical expertise in managing Syncrolift and transfer systems.\nCompletion of manufacturer training in applying shipyard experience to Syncrolift operations.\nStrong safety and risk management knowledge as it pertains to dry docking and undocking procedures.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, marine operations, or a related field.\nPrior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.\nValid country driver's license and passport.\nIn-depth understanding of DGLOCALCOORDINST 3170.1 (Series) and Syncrolift manufacturer protocols.\nEffective organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES\nSafety: Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements. \nPhysical Requirements\nRequirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
