Candidates may be based at either our Tullahoma, TN; Farmington Hills, MI; or Greenville, SC office.\nOur Advanced Solutions Group delivers the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities across the nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace industries. This position will provide you with an exciting opportunity to work on projects as part of a multi-discipline team of professionals. We are looking for a mechanical process engineer who will work to ensure client satisfaction and deliver key projects within scope, budget, and schedule.\nEssential Responsibilities:\n Work as part of project teams to develop new process system designs supporting research and test facilities.\nUnder the direction of a Senior Engineer, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work through the selection, adaptation, and modification of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.\nAnalyze design features and project requirements while applying sound engineering principles and best practices.\nDevelop technical reports and presentations for project management teams and clients.\nCollaborate closely with structural, machine design, controls and instrumentation, and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.\nSize and specify piping and ducting systems and components, including the selection of compressors, pumps, fans, valves, flow measurement devices, and fluid conditioning equipment.\nDesign:High-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping systems.\nHigh-temperature systems, including steam systems.\nRefrigeration, vacuum, and fuel systems.\nSpecialty HVAC systems and components.\n\nWork in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.\nSupport the Project Manager and Senior Engineer in ongoing design and engineering efforts.\nParticipate in internal and external meetings, as well as design reviews, with project team members and clients.\nGather information, interview stakeholders, conduct studies, perform calculations, and prepare preliminary layouts and sketches as required.\nDevelop engineering calculations and specifications and support the creation of engineering drawings.\nWork effectively within a multidisciplinary team to meet project budgets, schedules, and performance objectives.\nRequired Qualifications:\nUS citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations.\nA Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.\nAbility to work successfully within a multidisciplinary team environment.\nStrong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills.\nExcellent oral and written communication, technical problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a self-motivated and team-oriented approach.\nHigh ethical standards and a strong commitment to self-development, teamwork, and desire to work.\nExperience managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.\nKnowledge of AMSE B31.1 and B31.3 and ASME B&PV Code.\nKnowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow - compressible and incompressible, thermal sciences, and process systems. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nFE/EIT certification.\nPrior design experience with process systems.\nExperience in the design and/or maintenance of mechanical process systems.\nExperience with AutoCAD, AutoPipe, Caesar II, Mathcad, Creo, and AFT.\nPrevious DOE nuclear, DoD, NASA, or test facility experience.\nDescription of Work Environment:\nWork will mainly be performed in an inside-office environment.\nField work may be required, including climbing test stands and working around machinery.\nTravel may be required to support design reviews, attend factory acceptance testing of equipment, support construction activities, and provide onsite support for startup and commissioning activities.\nCompensation Details:\n$70,000 - $90,000The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
