To learn more, clickhere\nDescription\nAs a design engineer, you will provide support specifically to MSFC (Marshall Space Flight Center) ES34 Electrical Design, Imaging, and Sensors team within the Space Systems Department. The incumbent will serve a coordinating role with multiple discipline engineers with a focus on electrical system design. Duties may include, but not be limited to, the following:\nCoordinating with senior engineers in design and implementation of analog and controls algorithms. Attending, providing input to, conducting, and/or presenting at technical reviews, working groups, and weekly meetings.\nCoordinating with senior design engineers in development of initial concepts.\nPerforming analysis on testing and performance data to support hardware development and mission support\nDeveloping test procedures and conducting performance tests for printed circuit boards (PCB).\nProviding periodic status inputs to project and Space Systems Department management.\nQualifications\nA BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of five years of related experience is desired. Degree from ABET accredited institution is required.\nRequired skills for this position may include but not be limited to:\nDesign, analysis, and development of electronics. This includes, but is not limited to, signal conditioning, digital, and op amp designs. \nThe ability to translate requirements into detailed electrical architecture and block diagrams.\nThe ability to decompose electrical architecture into hardware design solutions.\nThe ability to create electrical schematic designs and multi-layer PCB layouts. \nThe ability to troubleshoot hardware failures.\nThe ability to balance multiple work assignments.\nFamiliarity with integrating COTS components into design\nFamiliarity with producing engineering drawings.\nFamiliarity with producing design documentation such as interface control documents, design specifications, etc.\nFamiliarity with writing and executing test procedures.\nFamiliarity with performing verification of electrical systems.\nExcellent communication and technical writing skills\nDesired skills for this position include:\nExperience with the requirements development, design, hardware development, documentation and performance testing of FPGA-based systems.\nElectronic designs and PCB layouts using the Mentor Graphics suite of software and other development tools. \nDesign, analysis and development of control algorithms and their application in power control designs.\nExperience in soldering and prototype PCB assemblies.\nKnowledge in space qualified and/or harsh environment Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts, such as experience in EEE parts selection and derating analysis.\nEssential Functions\nProof of U.S. Citizenship is required.\nWork Environment:\nOffice environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (5%).
