That's what we do every day.\nThe COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.\nNASA Spacecraft Services Depot (NSSD), that supports 155 processing activities of flight hardware and ground support equipment. The NSSD capability includes repair and manufacturing of flight and GSE cables; GSE repair and testing; fabrication support for exploration, research and technology projects; support to the 155 Prime Contractor with special tooling fabrication and special test equipment as required in support of Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) repair or testing; and support to other program or Spaceport customers as required.\nPosition responsibilities include:\nWrite technical operating procedures to build, process or repair hardware.\nCoordinate approvals for technical operating procedures with Design Engineering, Logistics, Quality engineering and Configuration Management as required by.\nUse Solumina and Maximo manufacturing software systems to create work planning.\nMaintain preventative maintenance procedures for the shops.\nDemonstrate advanced communication and interpersonal skills.\nProvide day-to-day technical leadership of manufacturing responsibilities through collaboration with a team of technicians, shop management, support organizations and design engineering to ensure timely execution of planned and scheduled work to meet program critical milestones in a safe manner.\nInterface, coordinate and communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, flow/project managers, work control and management to provide technical assistance during the manufacturing processes.\nActively participate in scheduling meetings to understand work priorities, resolve technical issues, and provide as a technical liaison with other entities required during fabrication and execution.\nProvide quick identification, resolution, and communication regarding any challenges to scheduled work.\nLead and participate in pre-task briefings as required for assigned jobs or projects.\nInclude instructions in technical operating procedures to ensure safe execution of work, including but not limited to ensuring required PPE is provided and utilized through work instructions and job leadership as required.\nCollaborate with other internal and external Shop Managers, Engineers, Work Management, Project Managers, and other support organization.\nSupports managers in the performance of functional analysis and critical thinking to identify areas for improvement, recommends corrective actions, potential training, and IT improvements.\nAssist managers in the translation of directorate goals and objectives into innovative operational and tactical execution techniques.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nBachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least 15 years of related experience.\nMust have a valid US driver's license\nKnowledge of vacuum systems.\nExperience with thermal testing.\nExperience with thermal vacuum testing is a plus.\nKnowledge of systems with PID and/or PLC controllers\nMust have a general knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering\nMust be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics\nComputer-Aided Design (CAD) is desirable\nExperience with KSC and manufacturing industry standards is highly preferred\nMust be able to develop work instructions, to direct rework or manufacture in accordance with engineer drawings/schematics/specifications.\nPhysical Requirements\nMay be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.\nPosition may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.\nPhysical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.\nPosition is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.\nWork Environment\nPosition may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.\nWalking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.\nClimbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.\nAll work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.\nEquipment and Machines\nComputers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.\nVariety of equipment used in testing.\nAttendance\nFull-time work hours.\nPosition may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.\nMust be dependable and punctual.\nShift work may be required.\nOther Essential Functions\nMust be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.\nMust be able to travel to support position requirements.
