We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.\nAbout the Role\nAmentum is seeking an experienced FEED Area Engineering Manager to support the Design Services Alliance (DSA) at Sellafield.\nThis role sits within the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of major nuclear programmes and is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in the development of technically robust, safe and deliverable engineering solutions from project conception through to Gate 2 / Single Preferred Solution.\nWorking across a portfolio of projects, you will provide engineering leadership from initial opportunity identification, through requirements capture, optioneering and engineering definition, ensuring projects are sufficiently mature to transition into detailed design and delivery.\nYou will act as the engineering focal point for your allocated programmes, bringing together engineering disciplines, safety, operations and stakeholders to develop solutions that are technically sound, deliverable and aligned with programme objectives.\nThis will be a hybrid position with Sellafield site attendance as required.\nKey Responsibilities\nEngineering Leadership\nLead multidisciplinary engineering teams through FEED activities across multiple projects.\n\nDefine and mature engineering scope from initial concept through Gate 2.\n\nDevelop engineering strategies aligned to programme and business objectives.\n\nEnsure engineering solutions are safe, legally compliant, proportionate and fit for purpose.\n\nLead engineering integration across all engineering disciplines.\n\nProject Definition\nLead the engineering activities required to develop projects including:\nScope definition\n\nRequirements management\n\nFunctional specification development\n\nEngineering option development\n\nValue Management\n\nOptioneering\n\nTechnology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments\n\nEngineering substantiation\n\nDelivery strategy development\n\nDevelop projects to the level of maturity required for transition into detailed design and project delivery. This reflects the Gate 0-2 mobilisation activities identified in the client role specification.\n\nStakeholder Management\nWork collaboratively with:\n\nSellafield Programme teams\n\nProject Engineering Managers\n\nSafety Case teams\n\nOperations\n\nConstruction\n\nCommissioning\n\nTechnical Authorities\n\nSubject Matter Experts\n\nFacilitate engineering decision-making and build consensus around preferred technical solutions.\n Essential Experience\nWe're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:\nSignificant engineering leadership experience within a highly regulated industry.\n\nProven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n\nExperience delivering Front End Engineering Design (FEED), concept, feasibility, appraisal or optioneering phases of major capital projects.\n\nExperience developing engineering requirements and translating them into deliverable engineering solutions.\n\nStrong understanding of engineering governance and design assurance.\n\nExperience managing engineering scope, cost, schedule and technical risk.\n\nStrong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior technical and programme stakeholders.\n\nExperience working within integrated engineering teams.\n\nDegree in Engineering or equivalent.\n\nChartered Engineer (or working towards).\n\nMembership of a recognised professional institution.\n\nOur Culture\nOur values are built on a strong foundation of safety, integrity, and respect for every individual.
